Wow, mediocre is right. I looked at the Grand Rapids Chapter results and they were ... well... mediocre. Anyone scoring in the 80's is going to be a winner and pickup "money" in the area of $1.13 or so.

So if someone "good" joins and they shoot 79, do they get kicked out?

If you break 80 in any MGA event you are disqualified.

I'm a member in Florida.  I'll be at the WC!  Are you headed there?

Yep. I got one of the bronze tickets after winning the Brattish open.

So having the round of your life can get you kicked out.  Seems a bit arbitrary.  If the person has multiple good rounds (in the 70's) then it might be appropriate

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Tour 900 golf ball

Not kicked out, just disqualified from that event.

This will help explain it a bit.

Very nice!  One of our guys got a bronze ticket last year.  Unfortunately, he caught Covid and couldn't go.  Our chapter leader spoke to Jon and he's been allowed to cash it in this year.  Are you going Wednesday or Thursday?  I'm flying in Wednesday afternoon for the 3 rounds.

I'm driving up Thursday. Only playing the two rounds for the tournament. This old body can't handle three days in a row.

The last time I looked our chapter is bring 23 guys. It blows me away that the Yellowknife chapter is bring 21 guys or so from Northern Canada.

Wow, 23!!  I know, Yellowknife always brings a large group and they bring the party!  We're only sending myself and 2 others.  Our average age in the chapter is ~65.  Our outgoing CL, and 6 other members, all live in the same 55+ community!  LOL

    • Day 51: Another long day, so another mirror work day. Again, focused on cleaning up set up and then not straightening the trail leg as much in the backswing. Need to feel like my knees stay a little more bent.
    • Day 595 - 2026-05-19 Got some short game work in today during some lessons. Made a lot of putts too. Without trying. Golfer kept chuckling.
    • Day 15, May 19.  Today, after work (in stages), I hit two dozen practice balls at home.  Slow swings, focusing on the lifting of the arms as per my latest lesson.
    • Day 259 5-19 Slow work on arms getting more in front. Lots of pause at the top, then rehearsals, then swing.
    • Day 70 (19 May 26) - weekly 9 hole session with my good friend this morning, however the better session was this afternoon with my grandson.  He put in for nine holes of match style play (we did stroke count as well).  The rules - I had to play from my regular tees but with irons only (no metal woods or hybrids (nothing with head covers)) while he played from the most fwd tees with his full bag.  Was a fun match and watching his competitive juices flowing.  He won the match 1/0 holding the lead as we tied the ninth.  Stroke wise it was a messy nine for me and he beat me by one stroke - not bad for a 10yr old.  Best of all - it was a dream session come true.
