Many of you know that I have a SAM PuttLab. You attach what they call a "triad" to your putter shaft, calibrate its position using a "PuttStation," and then hit putts from a defined spot to measure a ton of stuff about the putting stroke.

Thing is… it really only works indoors. You connect it to a computer, and you have to putt to a defined location from a defined spot. For that, you get some good information, like precise impact location, face alignment at setup and impact, and other things. You can 't use it on really long putts (putts approaching 25 to 35 feet start to get out of range).

So… a year ago I got the Capto Gen 2. It's a $2500 device that clips to your putter shaft and connects to an iPad (ideally, given the amount of data it will display) or an iPhone (or other kinds of devices).

Just recently, they released the Capto EZ: https://www.captogolf.com/en-us/pages/ez-sensor. It uses a different app (here's a link to the iOS app) and is intended a bit more so for players. It doesn't measure as many things, but it still measures a lot. It uses nine measurement sensors and five calibration sensors to measure just about everything you'd need to work on your putting.

I may set up an affiliate system at some point, but… I don't know that a ton of y'all are going to get this. However, I'll have this available for lessons, and look forward to using it.

Do you know what the damage is for one of these? I have a SAM, but I really don't use it enough to make it worth my while, so I'm quite tempted to sell it. Could do that and put the proceeds towards a launch monitor and one of these

I will be able to get them to you at 790 Euros (shipping adds a bit as they ship from Italy). If you buy on their site, you'll pay quite a bit more: https://capto.webflow.io/product/capto-ez. (790 euros is about $840, 816£ is about $990).

Let me know what you'd like to do and I can help set it up.

Over the next week I'll have messed around more with the EZ and will have some feedback here. But… I bought it only after talking with a number of other coaches.

    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
