I think that the PGA should have a mixed pair tournament to promote diversity and possibly increase the popularity of the LPGA.  I recall Bubba Watson paired with Lexi Thompson in the QBE Shootout (so there is no rule that ladies can participate).  They could incorporate some of the round rules they have for the Ryder Cup Team format as well.

Thoughts?

Why would the PGA Tour really care about promoting the LPGA Tour?

Or did you actually mean the PGA (of America), in which case… why should the PGA do that?

That isn't what I said or asked, though. I might watch it, too, but I watch PGA Tour golf and LPGA Tour golf already. Does the QBE Shootout do gangbusters ratings wise? No, I don't think so.

This exists (might be the first year though?), there have been plenty of ads for it.  Grant Thornton Invitational.  32 players, 16 from each tour (PGA & LPGA).

I think there has only been a couple times that a lady has participated in a PGA event.  So cant really base QBE Shootout ratings as a benchmark of how popular this idea might be.  I wasnt thinking in terms of profit for the PGA.  I just thought it would be a good variation to have to spice things up.  Especially considering what LIV is incorporating in their approach.

      New Maxfli Forged Irons - $800!

      I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.

      Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
