Wow, birdied 16, 17, and 18.  And then won the playoff.

Pretty nifty finish.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Really good career for an unknown guy, kinda. Out of the Pancake Zone. Very low odds to win a major, though could win a Players perhaps.

He's had 3 top ten finishes in majors recently, so maybe the odds aren't that low.  And this was his 6th PGA tour win.  And he is 5th in the OWGR.  What does it say about the state of golf that a guy like this is 'unknown'.

And what is the Pancake Zone?  I can't recall hearing that term before.

Carl Pettersson is the Pancake Zone.

Keegan Bradley just won his fifth PGA Tour event and became the latest member of the Swedish Pancake Club. Here's a ranking of that exclusive group.

It's his sixth win in a decent length career. He's nondescript. I think it says he doesn't make waves, wins some second-tier events, hasn't had many close finishes in the top three in majors… and that only hard-core golfers follow the week-to-week.

P.S. Five wins as personified by Carl Pettersson is the Pancake Zone. From Shotgun Start, I should say. It's not Carl per se, it's five wins.

Ok, thanks.  I still really don't get it, but that's OK.

But, now you have an idea. The Shotgun Start podcast has nicknames for a lot of players.

I googled a bit and not claiming it as fact but here's my understanding..

Carl Petterssen (Mr. Five wins) = Swedish. Swedish pancakes are iconic. So someone's highly fertile brain decided that 5 wins = CP = Swedish = Swedish Pancakes. There is no other logic connecting five PGAT wins or golf in general to pancakes.

It’s like those nicknames we made for each other back in Junior High. It only makes sense to 12 year old brains.
