I'm a lefty using a regular flex Nike Sumo2 square head driver 10.5. My drive flight is low and hooks. Rarely do I it high long and straight. Could it be that I need a stiffer shaft? My irons have stiff shafts and I often hit them long and straight. I think my swing speed is fast, but I've never had it measured.

That could be a factor. I was in the same situation, but I realized It was just my swing that needed to be fixed.

If you do decide to get a stiff shaft, make sure your swing is fast enough for it, otherwise youll do the exact same thing.

If you are a 36, i would buy some impact tape and practice until you hit toward the center. The Sumo Square is a very straight club, you are probably hitting all over the face, and swinging with a hooded clubface at impact.

Swing at 50% on the range with driver until it get consistently straight is my advice. Or tee of with a 4 iron and keep it in play, long and straight.

I doubt that you would be drives because you don't have a stiff shaft, but I suppose that could be a problem, unless your swing speed is substantially high. I personally use a regular shaft driver and when I begin hooking the ball it is generally because I am turning my hands over too much. Think of driving a car, the more you turn the wheel to the left the more you will turn the car. I have to dial-in how much I want to turn to make the ball draw slightly, just how I prefer to hit my drives.
