I bought some new spin milled vokey's last year after my bag got stolen. And now the spin mill has worn down and the face is pretty marked up. I love my Vokey's but the spin mill is a bit much on the less lofted wedges. So I just want to hear some reccomendations. I also saw a new bridgestone wedge that looked sweet. I didn't get to hit it though and I did not see it at Roger Dunn. So if you guys have any suggestions throw it out there.

A few weeks ago, I switched from Vokeys to Mizunos. I liked the Bridgestone wedges too, but not as much as the Mizunos.

Give 'em both a try at Roger Dunn. I buy from them because of their 90-day guarantee, so if it's good in the store and bad on the course, you can swap it for another go. I went through six 3-woods with this rule when I was starting RD Del Mar is having a tent sale, so if you're looking to pick one up cheaply, it might be there. I think there are demos at the sale, so you might be able to try a good supply before seeking your own. Also, various RDs have different supplies. There are a good number within a small radius of you (Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Aliso Viejo), so if you're able to drive around a bit to check, it might be worth the time. The Santa Ana store is huge!

I see you're a Mizuno iron player so I think you would love their wedges. Their wedges have the best feel of all the big name wedges out there but probably have the least amount of spin. Sounds like the combination you're looking for.

Ive just started using the CG14 with the zip grooves and they are fantastic, no excessive spin like the spin milled just one skip and stop or occasionally one or 2 foot back. Give them a try, or if your a lower marker then maybe the CG12

I love the Ping Tour-W wedges - changed a 54 Vokey for one. Haven't looked back. Not everyones cup of tea but i drink a lot of Ping tea.

I just got my Callaway X-Tour Vintages and they're great but i don't really think you can wrong with finding a wedge.

Go to the store, pick up a few after you know what degree/bounce wedge you'd like and then see which feels the best in your hands.

I've had good experiences with Titleist Vokeys, my Callaway's & Ping Tour-W's.

If you haven't figured it out already, there is no one club/wedge/iron/driver that everyone will agree on. The only advice I can give is try them all and pick the one you like the best. People's level of how much they like the look, the feel or even the performance of a club is purely a personal choice.

Me, I have 3 different wedges in my bag, I have a 51 Cleveland 588, a 56 Cleveland 588 DSG and a 60 Spin Mill. I am currently looking for an excuse to replace my 56 Cleveland for a 56 spin mill :P

I second this post, I currently play 3 wedges of different brands:

MP-T 51/6 gap wedge -- like the control and the "lesser" spin on these full wedge shots from 100 to 115. Cleveland CT14 56/10 -- excellent but not outrageous spin and it's a very workable sand wedge. Cleveland DSG RTG 588 -- for me the sole grind makes this an incredibly flexible shotmaker and it spins plenty by not as much as SM or CG14.

I got the Ping Tour W 54 and 60 wedges at the weekend as a present.

Really like the look of them so far, maybe a little lighter than I am used to, but I'm sure they will do the business. My best mate has the new Callaway Forged with Mac-dady grooves and I really like them also.

I would like to suggest Bridgestone wedges, I plan on getting some soon. But I mean wedges, like putters, are all about feel. Most people on this site LOVE Spin Milled Vokey's, but me, I don't like how they feel. Like I said, it's all about personal feel. So if I were you I would try out all of the wedges that you can and pick the one that feels best too you.

Here's what I play:

I picked up some Clevland CG14 (56 and 60 - 2dot) and love em, especially the 60. Good spin but not too much. And aesthetically, the black pearl finish makes them the nicest looking clubs in my bag.

This is just me but if I only carried 2 wedges I would go with a 52 and 56, there isn't that much you can do with a 60 that you can't do with a 56 and like you I hate the 3/4 PW from 100 yrds out. I only recently started to carry a 60, my 56 DSG with the 2 soles was almost like a 60 when you opened the face up onto the second sole grind.

there are benefits to having a number of wedges in the bag, you start to see different conditions and what not and different lofts can help you in different situations

I mean, when you think about it... we're allowed clubs in the bag, not just 14 clubs period... if you can afford to spend some money pick up a number of wedges and have them available for you when you know where you're going to play (unless you are a member somewhere)

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
