I'm using a Taylormade Mezza Monza mallet, in either 34" or 35" (I can't remember right now).

I've watched my putting stroke lately and, especially on the back stroke, the putter weaves and moves around a fair amount. I cannot seem to get it to be still and straight. I'm sure this is not helping my putting at all.

Is the weaving an indication that I just need to work at it more, do I need a different grip (I use 10 finger right now) or would a different style putter help with this (heavier, lighter, etc)?

Thanks.

I have this problem too. I get a sort of figure-8 movement on my backswing and clubhead approach to the ball. Mostly it's because I'm being inattentive.

I found that making sure I'm hovering the club at address before beginning my backswing. I used to leave the club grounded until I started the backswing, and the momentary friction between club and grass would set me up for failure.

If anyone else has tips I'd love to hear them.

What happens if you think about rotating around your spine only? Just take your hands/wrists entirely out of it. They cause the early weaves, and most of the later ones since you're trying to get back on the proper path to hit the ball.

If you can take it back well but weave coming forward, it's usually (in my experience) because you're not letting the backswing come to a natural end. In that case, I'd work on rhythm. Let the putter slow to a stop before starting back forward.

Or, get a Z Factor.

Sounds like too much hands in your putting stroke. As mentioned above, concentrate on rotating your spine and that will teach you to put with your shoulders instead of your arms and hands.
