Considering trying out a hybrid vs. adding a 5-wood in the bag. I've had 5-woods in the past, but never owned a hybrid.

I would say that for my driver and 3-wood, 70% of my distance is carry and the rest is roll.

What do normally get with your hybrids????

I'm hoping for 5-Wood distance but having it virtually all in carry. Is this too much to ask for?

Depends on a number of factors - Launch angle, swing sweed, spin rate etc.

I hit the ball quite high so 95% carry off the tee when there's little wind.

Sounds great.

Much better consideration for long approach shots than my 5 woods used to be. They'd come in hot and run. Same distance but more carry is gonna be nice!!!

I have a 5 wood too - not as versitile as the hybrid. I get a little more roll with it but not much. Again, it's about the othe factors as much as the club itself.

What 5 woods have you had/hit and have you tried a hybrid? What are you thinking about getting?

I have a 19 degree loft, my 5 wood is about 18 degrees. The shaft is important too - to get the right trajectory.

70% ?? So if you hit it for example 250y total, you get 75y roll?

I would recommend demoing whatever hybrid you want. In my experience, I get 90-95% of my distance through carry. This is because I tend to swing it more like an iron (Occasionally like a FW but only off the tee).

Almost too many to name: The ones that come to mind are the Burner Bubble (best sounding wood I've owned), Steelhead, and one of the Ping ISI which proved to be my best one. Looking at the offerings of Callaway and PING mainly right now.

70% ??

Seems like it sometimes. Perhaps my % were off a bit...maybe 80/20 is a closer number. I walked nine this afternoon. One of the par fours was 340 from the men's blue tees. A fairly straight hole with a slight uphill view to the target area and then descending slightly from there. I hit driver....and connected well (a rarity these days

)...anyway it was a low screamer that just crested the slight hill and carried just over the 150y stake. I couldn't see the exact landing in relation to the 150y stake...but it couldn't have been too far past. My ball was at rest adjacent to a sprinkler head marked for 47y. This, for me, is a supremely nuked drive.....293 total (est. 220+ carry.....the rest was roll/run). Gotta love firm/tight fairways laid down over Georgia red clay.....of course those same fairways crown and kick your ball into some nasty trouble areas sometimes as well.
