Most golfers miss 50% or more of the greens. Not hitting greens is a fact of life, not the result of poor course management, unless you are suggesting not going for the greens and laying up 80 yards out every time.

I think he's talking about not short-siding yourself, which

is a matter of course management. It's also partly a competency issue relating to your swing, too, because you can plan to miss left and still short-side yourself to the right if you really mis-hit the ball or something.

Yes, but you can decide where you can miss the green for e.g if you aim left edge of the green, with a fade, a descent golfer should be able to either hit a fade or just not draw it, so you know you wont miss the green left, where the danger is, hence not leaving yourself the hard flop shot.

Oh. Is that all there is too it? So all I have to do is aim at the fat part of the green and fade or draw the ball toward the pin so I'll never miss it on the short side. I wonder how I could also avoid coming up short of the green or going long over the back? Wait a minute, I got your answer... always hit the right club the correct distance!

You might notice a lot of professional golfers, when you see them on TV, ending up short sided, flopping shots or hitting little spinners from delicate distances. They do their best to not end up in those situations, but they still do. They must not realize how easy it is to avoid such circumstances. SubPar

I, for one, have added a callaway 64* x-forged wedge with MD grooves and love it. I may be overkilling the wedges concept a bit but I carry a 50, 54, 58, and 64...but the courses I play I am inside 150 on every 2nd shot, sometimes inside 75 yrds. So, again, for me it works, worth a try out if you have alot of shots inside 50 yrds. Like most of us, if it will shave strokes, I'll try it :)

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
