I almost fell out of my seat... I'm in the market for a set of solid blades but 1500 dollars is almost 400 over the nearest competitor

I love how they try and describe the irons as being straight from the tour...

Yes they are expensive, but did you look at them? They are beautiful, plus I'm sure they are great irons!

Callaway has been putting out a "tour authentic" line for about 4 monthsnow. It offers the following in tour versions: FT-5 Driver, X-Prototype Irons, X Forged wedges, non-insert prototype Odyssey milled putter, and tour staff bags.

They are. The set was originally made and produced for Callaway's tour players. Now put into a limited production of 2000 sets. That being said $1500 for a set of clubs is a bit pricey for the US market.

But, take a look at clubs sold in Japan How many people pay upwards of $299 for a Scotty Cameron putter? I'm surprised that Callaway even gave Golfsmith enough sets to justify them advertising them online.

No effence, but half of those japanese clubs are very ugly looking.

Definatly not worth the price.

I'm well aware of tour spec... that's not their general pricing though, the extreme prices there are a resource taking advantage of a portion of golfers interested in clubs only made available in Japan.

If you flew to Japan for vacation and bought blades, they wouldnt run you 1600 for 5-PW

Sure they would. Have you bought clubs in Japan? I used to play a Japanese driver called a Kamui Pro, I bought it in Japan, for $850, and this was 10 years ago.

Back in 1995 when I worked on a course out there, the members were playing a Bridgestone driver that costs $1100. Just their driver... But, I digress. We are talking about the fantastic X-Proto's here.

I was just checking out the gunmetal macgregor blades, anything gunmetal grabs my attention, I'd even prefer a raw finish

nothing like rust, I absolutely love rust and golf clubs

Callaway is just taking advantage of the CC folks who play once a month and have to have the best clubs, lets them have some great deals. Like FTI low CG with the Code 6. $529 for a $500 driver and $450 shaft, good deal to me.

      Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.

      As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
