I am heading there this week also. How are Man of War, The Witch and The Wizard.

I'll tack on to what others have said.

My father and I played MB about 6-7 years ago. We enjoyed our round at Man-O-War....it was our week opener. It was a decent course but nothing really that reached out and grabbed you. Our next round was at the Wizard. I thouroughly enjoyed this one. My ballstriking was spot on that week. You can pound the driver as was mentioned prior in this thread. There are some really interesting shots to well protected greens...water hazard carries nice bunkers...hills sides, etc. Both of us had just bought X14s and mine were treating me so nicely. The Wizard is a course that I'd play again....one that I'd like to start the week with. We didn't get a chance to play the Witch. Another course of note was the highly advertised (at the time anyway) Long Bay Club...one of Jack's layouts. I enjoyed the course, though not to the level of the Wizard. The greens were a bit shaggy and grainy when we played. I could see where some of the pin placements here could be impossible if the greens are rolling fast. I don't know that I'd play this one again.

If you are looking for a open starter course daly's wicked stick is nice and open. The witch is a great course also, played it a couple of years ago. You work your way thru bottoms and swamp. Makes for an interesting layout compared to most MB courses.

My faves have been Oyster Bay and Glen Dornoch, both just north of MB less than hour from The Legends where we stayed.

I found this resource today:

http://www.mbga.com/ (Myrtle Beach Golf Association)

Hit the link and click "course directory." These guys don't pull any punches. If a course stinks, they say it stinks. I haven't played around there but more information is better than less, I suppose, so hopefully this will be a help to you.

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Day 295 6-26 Low point control with towel again. Getting better but not swinging fast enough tonight.
    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
