Nike Sumo Irons vs Callaway Big Bertha? Which ones provide the most forgiveness and distance? I was reading in Golf Digest and both sets had very promising reviews and I just wanted to see what everyone else thought of them.

Well, I wasn't necessarily talking about clubs just for me and that 20 on my profile probably needs to be adjusted more to like 40 for average play :/

well i would recomend the ping g10's or the g5's i dont plahy those i actually use the i10s but i have herd great reviews about them. as for the callaways and nikes i never really herd to much hype about them i also know that the pings are more cost effective. And the mizuno cavitybacks are also very good. All of the clubs i mentioned are high launch and very forgiving and accurate.

hope this helps

Having hit both here is my honest opinion in brief -

Nike Slingshots look bigger than the Berthas at address, but equally the Nike's are prettier, When you pure the Nike's it sounds almost like a bullet, the Berthas just sound like your bog standard iron.

Slingshots are probably more forgiving, but there are a couple of versions that vary in the levels of forgiveness.

Personally I prefer the Slingshots, and used to use them, they are probably one of Nike's better clubs so far.

I recenty got my CG Gold irons, and while choosing i demo-ed the Callaway Big Berthas. They are amazingly forgiving. I just didnt like how they looked at address, they are big, bulky, and very clumsy looking which kind of made me feel as if i was using a childrens set of irons. Although they hit well, i would recommend to go a different route. You dont want to learn to play golf with irons that basically do all the work for you, leaving no room for improvement and fancy shot work.

If between these or the sumos, Id say go with the Sumo.

I really think you should look in either the Cleveland CG Gold, or PING G10- either of those are great irons.
