Don't choke.

Just jk, I have only started golfing this year so I don't really have much in terms of technical advice but just enjoy yourself and take it all in. And don't forget to let us know how you did.

Have fun. That should be your real goal. Have fun, see what's going on, enjoy the course, meet fellow golfers at your age.

Do lots of work on your short game before the competition, as chances are you will lose your swing.

Maybe think about how your going to plot your way around the course, as driver is not always the best club too hit.

My first tournament, I was 11 or 12 years old (18 years ago). I remember being so nervous I had trouble teeing up the ball. Fell off the tee like three times before I was able to get it straight. I thought the whole world was watching me.

Then as I got older, I realized that there were maybe 15 people watching, so what? No big deal.

My advice:
- Don't be nervous about a bad shot. Don't feel that every shot has to be perfect. Don't get down on yourself if you hit a bad shot and start thinking that your round is ruined.
- There are a lot of holes, just do your thing and add them up at the end. Focus, concentrate, but try to avoid the emotional rollercoaster from a bad bounce or mental lapse and have fun.

Mr. Sandman is on the money. Don't sweat it!!! Just go play your game and have a good time, one shot at a time. Play smart, play within yourself. You know what your "go to" shots are.

We have a great variety of good public courses in the Denver metro area. How long will you be here and what part of the area will you be staying in?

It will most likely be a day. I usually play at SouthRidge in Ft Collins. I am a stones throw across the border in Wy. What course do you play at in Denver? A friend of mine wants me to play Black Bear over in Parker with him.

What was your first tee shot? Did you hit driver? Did you rip it down the middle? Push it right? Duck hook it into some trees? Ground ball? High pop fly?

Highland Links... 18 hole executive course. Nice course though...My former boss lives on the 16th hole there.

In the northern part of the city are some courses like Riverdale: The Dunes Course (Perry Dye design) in Brighton near the Adams County fairgrounds, or Indian Peaks (Hale Irwin design) in Lafayette, both great courses.

His tournament was at South Suburban Family Sports Center Executive 9, by Centennial Airport and Dove Valley (Broncos Headquarters) off of Peoria and Arapahoe. Nice little executive track.

I play in the Riverdale Men's Club. The Dunes is a great course. I second Fourputt's endorsement of Indian Peaks as well.

    • Day 3: about 20 minutes of putting on the practice green. Focused on putts within 10 feet.
    • I don't have enough details to know what to tell you, man. If they were walking across, to play devil's advocate, maybe just wait another 10 seconds next time.
    • Day 11: Putts with a metronome and worked on some feels for greenside shots.
    • I realize the frame cuts off my tail but wanted to specifically see my hand path and club shaft and head travel from A5 to A7 with the grip and posture work I have been doing . This might be the shallowest I have managed to get the club head to enter into impact. I like the finish much more as well.
    • Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).   But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.
