Golf Rant

I just played 9 holes and was behind a couple of guys. Now grant it, I am not an impatient golfer but these guys just seemed to play slower and slower. They actually stopped at a pond on 8 and I think they were looking for spare balls. They sat there for probably 5 minutes and after about 3 minutes I thought maybe they had got the cart stuck.

Mind you, I was walking and there was a guy that was 4 holes behind (he was on green 1 when I was teeing off on 4) that had caught us by 7 and had to wait on the tee on 8 while I sat in the fairway. I wasn't trying to rush them or anything but not once did they offer for me to play through.

Any way, it irritated me and I ended up shooting one of my worst rounds because of it.

Ouch. I have had the miss fortune to play behind people that enjoy looking for golf balls more than hitting them too. Theres only one thing to do: Complain to the course marshall. Or seeing as it was a small course they might not have one. Just look on the bright side, you can spend up to 5 mins+ preparing for your shot, because no matter how long you take they'll still be there waiting for you on the fairway when you finish the hole.

I felt bad for the guy behind me. The only bad thing I got out of it is when I have too much time to think about my shot my head gets in the way and it never turns out to be a good one.

theres nothing wrong with looking for spare golf balls. i do it all the time when i go to the golf course. but then again, i only look for them WHILE im waiting for the ppl in front of me to get finished with their shots, or when there is nobody behind me.

but i agree with you, it is rude to do while somebody is playing behind you. you could have asked to play through though, then maybe they woulda gotten the hint.
