My phone is always on vibrate and usually in my bag. My kids/GF know not to call me unless the house is burning ^^

I'll get back to you the next time somebody has a 5-10 minute argument with his wife while I'm trying to play.
I think the smallest parts would only vaporize.

I put it on vibrate when I'm texting a lot but I have the ringer on when I'm playing by myself. Usually don't get a lot of calls, texting has put that to rest.

I keep mine with me on the course, but it's on vibrate at all times. My wife now knows not to call me unless it's an emergency. Last year, I was playing at Myrtlewood Golf Club in Myrtle Beach on the 3rd hole, my phone rings. My wife called to tell me that my niece had lost her glasses in the ocean. Why on earth she thought I could do something about this from the course is beyond me. After that incident and the accompanying explanation of why she should not call me, she now understands that unless someone is dying it's not important to call me at the course.

Mine is on, but in a lined pocket in the bag. It is not going to be loud enough to be heard unless you are carying the bag. I run two health clubs, so my hours don't end at 9-5. I try not to talk on it during a round, but if need bee I will hang back or walk away from other players to minimize any distractions.

I don't even fool with the vibrator. I just leave it on silent and check it every couple of holes. Besides, I don't think all the UM fans at my course would appreciate my Buckeye ring tone.

My phone is ALWAYS on vibrate. I can't hear the darn thing in my pocket, so its easiest to feel it vibrating. In the car, at home, listening to music, at work, etc. Vibrate is easier for me.

Now, I did have to take a call last time out. We were running late and my wife's dad just flew into town. She called to find out if I was picking him up. But, I took the call while standing about 100 yards away from the nearest person. I rushed through the conversation in a whisper, then I hung up and politely apologized to the group.

To me, its just about common courtesy. I bet the same people who talk on the golf course are the same ones who don't turn off their phone in the movie theater.

Really, how self-centered of a population have we become that we need the whole crowd to hear our specialized and personalized ring tone everywhere we go? Get over it. You're not that important. The world COULD exist without you polluting it with your noise.

I use my Blackberry to keep score on. But have it on quiet.

My wife's old boss was on a firm retreat, playing a round completely inebriated. He couldn't find a tee, so he used his Blackberry..as a tee. You can guess the results.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
    • No! Is a large part of the human population selfish, apathetic and cuts corners in the name of self-preservation 'more than they would like to admit', yes. Degenerate, scum, etc?.. no!! Most humans/men would not grope a woman like Phil is accused of doing (I think he absolutely did). That is scum. I mean what % of men do you think would do that? Seriously??
