I am looking at getting a new driver and would like to go with something other than the stock shaft because i hear so much that the shaft makes the driver. Does anyone have any ideas of some shafts that help with accuracy?

In nearly every case, a heavier and stiffer shaft will promote accuracy.

Yeah, but you'll lose distance.

Also, the shorter the shaft the more accurate it is, so if you are looking for accuracy then get a 44 inch shaft. This does usually lower the distance of the drives, but it gives you more accuracy.

Steel...

But seriously just get fitted for a shaft. What may be extremely effective and accurate for one person may not work at all for you. And vice versa. What others have said, shorter shaft, firmer flex, theoretically promote accuracy but that doesn't necessarily mean that's what you need. Get fitted by someone who knows what they are doing, tell him/her your #1 priority is accuracy and see what they say.

I cut my shaft down to 44 inches and not only did I achieve greater control I actually gained distance because the combination of the length and my shortness (5'9) I was able to make more solid and consistent contact!

Give it a shot...

One of my many teachers told me that my Dynamic Golds were much more forgiving than a graphite shaft.

Yes there is a distance trade off but I would always choose a ball in the fairway over one that's 15 yards further and in the weeds.

Some of it comes down to your swing as well. Some people time a lighter shaft better, and some people have better timing with a heavier shaft. But i think what your teacher is referring to is the shot dispersion with that shaft (a measure of how big your misses are). The shot dispersion of a dynamic gold is most likely much tighter than that of a 65 gram graphite shaft.
