Can anyone tell me why some events (masters, tiger's event, the open, player's championship) set up their own sites that pgatour.com links to with their own, typically inferior, online leaderboards?

The standard boards used for regular pga events are awesome, you watch shot by shot, see hole locations, etc...

It's really irritating, esp. when espn360.com seems to be completely borked today

None of the majors are run by the PGA Tour.

Nope, ran by the PGA, not the PGA Tour.

No. The PGA runs the PGA Championship. The PGA and PGA Tour have been separate entities since 1968.

I don't remember The Players having a separate leaderboard, but I was quite busy that week, so I could very well have missed it.

This irritates me, too. Pick 'Em can't do auto-updates. I can't customize the leaderboard. Play-by-play, which helps me follow the rounds from the office, is missing completely. I wish at least these other groups would allow me some sort of auto-access to the data, I might even be tempted to write my own leaderboard software for the weeks that PGATour.com doesn't manage it. IIRC, the stroke play WGCs have a decent PGATour.com style leaderboard.

totally agree, immts007. pgatour.com leaderboard is great, and the U.S. Open's - the greatest tourney of the year - totally sucked.

How can the traveler's championship or buick open have a better online leaderboard than the flippin' USOPEN!! Grrrr.

totally agree, immts007. pgatour.com leaderboard is great, and the U.S. Open's - the greatest tourney of the year - totally sucked.

Not only that, but it was also indescribably slow to post results.

i know what you mean mate, it annoys me like hell aswell! i love the play by plays as i can just watch the leaderboard for ages with play by play but the majors do have annoying leaderboards! i wouldnt mind them if they only got play by plays!

      I think there's a difference between taking time over the ball and taking time to play a shot, at least IMO. One thing I've noticed in a few guys I play with who take a long time over the ball to pull the trigger, is that their backswing is really fast and I think it makes it harder to have a smooth rhythmic down swing. It's almost like they take so long to swing that when they do they speed to catch up. Doesn't lead to good golf IMO.

      As long as it's from a reputable seller it should be just fine. Just make sure the picture of the weight looks the right shaped weight for that specific driver head. You can even weigh it yourself when you get it if you want to be extra sure. Personally I don't consider $15 for something that can greatly change your impact and delivery characteristics to be "not cheap" but that's just my opinion. Especially since you know it's bringing it closer to what you were fit into and you're already saving a bunch of money by going the used/prior model year route too.
