  1. 1. When are golf balls pulled out of the bag?

    • Six holes
      1
    • Nine holes
      1
    • Each round
      9
    • When scuffed
      21
    • Play until it is lost...greater than 18 holes
      43
    • Replace lost ball before the nine is completed
      4
    • Replace lost ball holes 10 -18
      3

As others have stated....I'll lose one well before it's worn out.

It is funny...since stating play again...my game is either good or it sucks...little in between. As a result, I'll get a full round from a ball or I'll loose a sleeve in a round....simply depends on what flaw is biting me on a particular round.

I play a ball until it gets scuffed. One of the courses I play has "continuous cart paths" which is great during the winder months in Ohio. But, the "continuous" path cuts across the fairway just short of the green, giving us what we affectionately call the "Mallard Creek Logo ball"

I typically lose a ball once every 5 holes or so. It might be from a shank into the woods, it might be buried in impossibly thick rough. I have gone 18 losing just one ball, so it is possible (for me at least) to play a full round on just one ball. And even so - I still played the heavily scuffed ball. I find it hard to let go of a ball (no matter how dinged up it is) if it hasn't gotten lost yet!

My vote went for replace lost ball within 9.

I like to start a round with a fresh ball.

If I'm playing a practice round, twilight 9 style, I will use balls that have been played in past rounds but are still in good condition.

I'll play a ball until I lose it.. so I usually end up replacing it every other hole.

I will play the same ball until it gets scuffed by a cart path or tree or club. I can handle the little marks, but once it gets too beat up I will switch it out. This could be multiple rounds (if I don't lose it) or just a few holes.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I used to have a brand new pro-v last 2 rounds or so without losing, but lately I have been losing 1 or 2 balls around and they aren't even bad shots, just going to bad spots of the course.

all it takes is one nice wedge shot for my ball to start showing wear but I'm cheap and I'll play a ball all the way though unless I see there is a change in the ball flight.

I've gone 4-5 rounds with the same ball before, it was a beautiful sight... saved the ball and now has a home on my TV

I guess I should have answered "every 9 holes" instead, since that's the rate I aproximately loose a ball in this ocean side courses hehehe

That is kinda a loaded question.

When they get really scuffed up, I add them to the practice bag. But that is normally after a couple of rounds of golf. Sometimes I loose them and then replace them.

Till its lost.

My #1 goal is to shoot a low score and have fun

(kidding) BTW....for those that do play until the ball is lost...any belief that scuffs alters ball performance? Considering so many are paying $30-45/doz...why pay a premium if the ball is scuffed?

You cant get low scored if you are hitting in the woods. And climbing in those woods ISNT ANY FUN!

Last time i bought balls i got 3 dozen for 20 bucks.

What type of ball for $20 for 3 dozen? Did it include a black stripe already around all the balls?

Usually until they are scuffled up, then my boys get them.

Or if I'm having a few bads holes in a row, the ball goes away....forever into the water or woods never to bother me again. Stupid ball

Then my game improves...
or repeat as necessary

Cheers,
Eric

    • Day 297: putted for about 25 minutes, working on 30 foot putts. Then went and hit balls for about an hour, just focused on getting the ball to go where I want it. Not my best session, but figured it out better at the end.
    • I do use a 7 wood. Love it! Do have a specific question about 7 woods?
    • @DrizZzY does. 😄
    • does anybody still use a 7 wood? if not what do you use instead>
    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
