I have to let this out because i am steaming about this. I was having one of my best rounds ever yesterday at the course I caddy at. After 14 holes I was 3 over. I had just walked off the 3rd green, I started on 10, and I looked to the sky and it was pitch black. I knew that that meant storms but I was hoping i could beat it out. THen after finishing the 6th a huge peal of lightning struck and thunder. The Course's weather warning system went off telling us that we had to get off the course immediately. Begrudgingly I walked to the clubhouse and started to wait. 10 minutes later downpours started. I waited there for 2 and a half hours waiting to go back out but they said that they were closing the course for the day and that i couldn't finish. Im leaving for Florida on Friday and wont be able to go back next Monday either. I can't believe that my awesome round ended so fast, very upsetting. Thanks for listening.

And sorry the title should read Soo Mad Yesterday not Made.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me but I didn't wait for the course's warning system to go off. I was on the 9th green set to putt and a lightning bolt right above me was so bright I was able to see my shadow as if someone just pointed the sun directly on me. I about peed my pants and got off the course very fast. On a side note, I wanted to go play 9 yesterday and it started to hail as I was getting ready to go.

I had an experience kind of like that back when I was sixteen. My Dad & I started a round at a local golf course, and I birdied the first four holes. I parred the fifth hole, and before we could start the sixth hole, it started to rain. We waited for over an hour while the rain continued. We ended up walking in, and I always wondered what I would have shot that day.
But remember, there will be other days.

Been there, felt that. I was 7 over through 14 and just hit GIR on the 15th (par 3) and the horns went off. My buddy and I, being stubborn, decided we would continue until it started raining. About the time I got to the green to putt, lightning struck literally withing 200 yds of us. It was the scarriest/loudest thing I have ever experienced and needless to say, I didn't finish my round. As a matter of fact, I didn't even take my 25 ft. birdie putt. I got the hell outta dodge...

The one thing I don't like about golf is being at the mercy of the weather. I hate it when I get some friends together, make the tee time, and then wake up that morning to see pouring rain. It just seems to suck the life out of me for the rest of the day.

The good thing is, at least you made it off to play again. I've heard more then a few scary weather stories from long time golfers.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
    • Day 126 12-16 Back swing and rotation work today. Didn't hit any balls. Focusing on rotating and getting to lead side.
