Hey everyone, I have recieved a 35" Red X2 as a gift with standard loft/lie, and am a little confused with some info I have found on it. Is this putter a face-balanced fully centered shaft putter? I putt with an arc stroke and am hoping I will be able to still putt well with it. I have heard from some that it is face balanced and suited for straight back and through, and also that it has 1/4 toe hang and is perfect for the arc stroke.

If anyone can clarify this for me it would be great! I am picking the putter up sometime tomorrow and hope Ill like it. Thanks

Scotty cameron is a swinging door putter guy... I think he only designs toe weighted putters but I don't know 100%.

Scotty designs both, but believes that the "art of putting" (so to say) is the "swinging door putter" type.

I am almost 100% sure on this.

Forget all that technical specs, just try it! If you don't like it, sell it!

The Red X2 has a straight, no-offset shaft that is positioned just back of center. It also has a really nice sound. It is a face balance putter. I have been playing it for 3 years and just love it...
If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

Yes, Scotty is particular not to call it "center-shafted" because it's just off center (towards the inside), not truly, truly centered.

I think that putter may be face balanced, but that's irrelevant: Scotty believes that because the putter's lie angle is at least 10 degrees from vertical, it should swing in an arc.

Well thanks for all the responses. I picked it up today and was putting around with it, and the verdict is.... I LOVE THE THING! It rolls the ball very nicely. I found out that it is not face-balanced, it has a little toe hang to it and fits my stroke just fine. Thanks again

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
