Hi. This past monday i pulled something either in my back or rib (feels like the rib).

Bad on Monday, bad on Tuesday, manageable today. Ive been icing and stretching. I can swing a club but its not that comfortable. Here is the problem. Plans to take a few newb friends to the Par 3 course on Sunday. They are coming from all over the place so if i have to cancel, i have to do it soon.

Par 3 is easy for me. I know it like the back of my hand. Playing "soft" wont be an issue. Should i cancel now? Right now i couldnt play a round of golf, even there. But on Sunday i might be good to go.

What to do, what to do.

My suggestion is to keep what you are doing, keep the date, and see how it goes on Sunday. If it hurts too bad for you, take the time and help the newbies with their game.
The alternative is to suck it up, drink a beer or two before to "lube the muscles" and hope it all heals by the time you play on a regulation course. I did the same thing at the practice tee for the first tournament this year, with the help of a little alcohol I made it through the full 18 though without a pretty score. I healed within a week and was back out at the course the following saturday. Hope you heal fast and have a fun time.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah i'll keep the date. If im not up to the task i'll just drop my ball near the green and get some short game/putting practice in.

Time for some iceyhot

Dont play or do any heavy lifting between now and than, keep icing it. Sunday is a few days away so it should do some healing so you can play than.

I did the exact same thing as you recently by pulling a rib muscle on my side. You should be fine playing, just take some advil before your round and stretch it out and it shouldn't bother you too much.

Went to the range today........... no good. It effects my backswing too much.

Spent a half hour on and around the putting green. So it wasnt a total loss.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
    • No! Is a large part of the human population selfish, apathetic and cuts corners in the name of self-preservation 'more than they would like to admit', yes. Degenerate, scum, etc?.. no!! Most humans/men would not grope a woman like Phil is accused of doing (I think he absolutely did). That is scum. I mean what % of men do you think would do that? Seriously??
