How many people who have the time and money to get good enough to play in a tournament can't afford a box of regular Pro V1s?

It's not about what you can and cannot afford. If you can save $20 every time you buy a box of them just because they have PRACTICE stamped on the side...you can save that up and actually PLAY GOLF!

Oh trust me, I am all about paying as little as possible for everything...I would just think that if someone were going to be entering a tournament they would probably just pay the piper for the non-practice version.

I play Intech Betas at the cost of $16 for 36 balls. I saw recycled Pro V1s at Target today that were still $27 for 12...so I am discussing things well out of my league...just wondering.

I pay 14.99 for practice TP reds, how can you pass on that?

because there is absolutely nothing wrong with the actual ball... if there is an imperfection in the ball (99% is a logo overun) Titleist will pull 10 balls from behind and infront of the ball for quality assurances. they play exactly like "normal" prov1's

These are not logo overruns at all. They are "imperfects"...I too dont see a whole lot wrong with them, but you never know. I play NXTs that I actually like more than the Pro V1, and they are $29 or less.

Yeah, you're right, and I was mistaken. I suppose my own bias - I'd never

buy let alone use a practice ball - tainted my memory. X-outs are not allowed (well, they are for handicap rounds or whatever, I guess).

      My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.

      I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
