Hey guys (gals too)!

This is my first time here and is only my second season golfing.

I'm new to all the different golf eguipment out there. I've been testing out drivers for the last couple of days at Golf Galaxy and Dick's.

I tried out the Taylormade 580XD (10.5* reg) and Last year's nike ignite 460.(same loft and shaft) I was only able to max out the taylormade at about 280yds on the simulator and the Nike, only about 270yds.

The sales guy then handed me a 10.5* reg, MacTec NVG. It was the first club(and only since) that I was able to hit consistantly straight and 300-305 yds!

I held off buying it to finalize my options, but when I went to DIck's I found out that they had PULLED OUT all the MActec drivers and gave them back to Macgregor! The sales guy said that the club was horrible and a total flop, so they discontinued them!

I've "googled" the Mactec driver and have not found anything to back up this claim(in fact all I see are great reviews), but I'm now a little hesitant to get this club.

Today, I went back to Golf Galaxy. They are still carrying them and said there were no "issues" with the club. He said they are not discontinuing them, just updating them to next year's model. He said IF ANYTHING, that the technology in the mactec 3wood seems to be better and next year's model will follow closer to that design. Also next year's model will be toned down in appearance.

I was just wondering if anyone else has heard anything like this, or has had any probs with this Driver.

Thanks!

(SORRY for the long-winded narrative!)
(side note, I ended up trying the Mactec(9.5* Stiff) and I hit all my shots over 305 yds and maxed out at 332yds, I've never hit anything that far before!)

Check our marketplace. I'm selling the exact model you crushed. Make an offer - I'll gladly sell it and ship it for less than you'll get it from Golf Galaxy for.

Plus, Don reviewed the driver earlier this year and really liked it.

I just talked the the reps in my area and NO they are not being discontinued. The new 06 clubs should start showing up in the Spring.

I was at a demo day today and have never really been a fan of MacGregor's and I was extremely impressed with their woods and irons. Particularly their fairway woods, I was crushing them and was loving it! I'll definately be trying them out of the long term.

Thanks Iacas, for your offer!

I actually found "thesandtrap" when I googled the mactec NVG, when I was trying to verrify what the kid at Dick's had said. Great review on the Mactec, which re-affirmed my experience with the club.

Paco, thanks for looking into it and geting a reliable answer!

Thanks Iacas, for your offer!

So again, if you're still interested in one, I've got one pretty damn near brand spankin' new. Just make a semi-reasonable offer.

And no, MacGregor isn't discontinuing it. In fact, the NVG 2 is in the works and slated to come out this spring.

    • Oh man. As you can see above, Manavian mocked me for not realizing they were getting the 130° from BOTH shoulders. Apparently, though, Manavian is also wrong, as Andy said I was lying when I cited what Manavian had written: The next thing Andy says that's both accurate and clearly stated will be the first. I replied to that post with something like: Tell Manavian who said "only counting the abduction/adduction of one shoulder rather than 2." One of the issues with “bad” information is that y’all can’t even get on the same page. You've not shown that Bryson has 130° range of motion in either shoulder separately P1 to P7. I’ve shown the numbers. You’ve name-called and just said “nuh uh” repeatedly. Did you see the AMG IG video? Of course you have. Wrapping your head around the distance the shoulder travels yet, Andy? Andy later commented to explain how he got his range of motion number (apologies to whoever @iacac and @icaca are on Instagram, who are going to be wondering just what in the hell they've gotten themselves into). Oh boy. Adding the numbers in one direction and then adding them again going back is not a "range" of motion. If I can bend my knees 140°, I don't claim to have 280° range of motion because I have two knees nor because I can also extend my knees 140° after bending them. Bryson (with a driver, again — I used his iron swing) abducts about 65° (and bends his elbow a ton) with the driver. Then he adducts 50… and then another 15°… to end up right back where he started. This is exactly the equivalent of saying that I bend my knees 140° and then straighten them, creating a range of 280°. It's so silly I don't even have much of a response. It falls down completely on its own. It doesn't need even a nudge.
    • Can't remember who but some wise guy said "Arms up, body around"..😉. Anywho, been working on pinning my lead arm less and less to my chest in the BS. Decent progress with the arms, need a lot of work and trust for the 'body around' part.
