I had a golf lesson on my putting and my pro said I should become consistent in using one ball. I am a mid-handicapper golfer on a varsity high school golf team and would like to find a reasonably-priced golf to use. I want something that is soft, but still have the distance I want on my tee shots(255-270 yds). I want to pay as much as $30 bucks or so for a dozen of them. I was looking at the Top Flite D2 Feel, Titleist DT Solo, Titleist NXT Tour 2008, Taylormade Burner TP, or Wilson Staff Zip ball. Any suggestions or recommendations would be helpful.

Titleist DTs are pretty reasonable too. They go for about $24 a dozen.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Very true, in fact used one today, but I think he was asking for something a little spinnier...I may be wrong though.

Titleist NXT (Tour)/NXT Extreme are good balls. That's what I use now.

Nike Power Distance Soft is a really good ball for $16/dozen. That's what I used to play (and sometimes still do.)

Top Flite D2 Feel are $16 for 15 balls. They are pretty good, although I prefer the Nike PDS for that price range. Top-Flite Gamer is a 3-piece ball for $20/dozen, but I haven't had a chance to try those. (Callaway is making a concerted effort to resurrect the TF brand and kill it's "Top Rock" reputation with the new line of TF balls.)

I could be wrong on this one, but I thought that DT Carry had some kind of special dimple design that promoted more spin for a higher trajectory.

That is true, however it still would not be as spinny as the NXT Tour with a softer cover and 3 piece design. IMHO atleast.

look for a practice / xxx ball

I've seen some HX tours, Pro V1 / 1X, and TM TP Red/Black's out there...

NXT Tour and I was using the E+ today (bridgestone) and after a hole or two I really started to like it.
That being said, with my swing back and the rate I am playing...When it is time for more balls I will likely buy NXT Tours and Prov1x which is my fav. Reloads can be had for about $1 a ball.

I would recommend the NXT Tour or e5+ both are really good balls for a substantial saving over the top line ProV, TP Red, B330 etc

I use the DT-Solo's they have great feel around the green. I have also used the NXT tours and are also great balls.

if you're looking for spin I'd avoid any DT Solo ball and stick with an NXT line

Bridgestone E5 or E6, run about $20-$25. I use the E6 when I am not using a $40+ urethane cover ball. I think they are great. They get good distance, but I can still get a low iron to spin respectably. They have a fairly soft cover for that price range.

I would take the E6 over any $30 that I have played. Why pay the extra $10 when the E6 is just as good, if not better? If you're not playing a urethane cover, there is no reason to spend more than what the Bridgestone E+ series cost.

You cant go wrong with Bridgestone balls try the e5+ or the e6+ the e5+ is a little more spinnier but less durable than the 6, saying that i dont have a problem stopping the e6+ on hard greens...

I would say either the NXT Tour or the Top Flite Gamer. Both get good distance and spin well, and IMHO are as good as you can get for under $30.
