shop owner told me to go with the MP 57 opposed to the 60's, as I had asked about the 60 specifically. I hit the 6i pretty darn good, but didn't try the 60 yet. Yep, I am a high capper, but want irons that will truly allow me to hit it decent still, but allow me to develop my swing better.
So...I am going to order 7-pw (keep my 950's for long irons) I believe, unless someone talks me out of it! 57 the right choice? I want butter!
I wanted a gap w, but I see Mizuno doesn't offer it in gap, or do they now?

Maybe even try the 57's for Long Irons and the 60's for short? a 57/60 combo, I've heard alot of people doing that. That leaves tons of room for improvement and the Lofts will be almost near the same. Getting having a completely different set of irons may be iffy because of the angles of each club and the offset.

Any further insight boyz?

Yes!

My handicap was around 22, give or take a stroke, when I got my MP-57s. I got the set you see in my signature (FLI-HI 3, -57 4-9, wedges) So-called Players' Irons serve a dual purpose to guys like us. They're really swing improvement clubs. You want to hit a good shot with them, you better have a good swing. Nice motivator. Plus really bad shots ruin the mirror finish on the sides of the face of the irons. I can't put a haphazard shot in with these the way I could with my SGIs. And you know what? My swing has gotten better, and now I'm hitting it more solidly more consistently... and it's going farther. As for gap wedge, they don't offer a GW in the -57s: they're strictly 3-P (although you can order a subset, as I did). I didn't order the P with my set, but rather got the same loft & bounce from their wedges, and got that gap & sand wedge too.

Are you going to be serious with golf? Are you the learning type of person? If you're not then you are better off with the MX. Otherwise, go for it. FYI, MP-57 is still tough to use although they're a full cavity-back irons. Here's the

review . Just like Shindig says, you need a good swing to hit them good. Everytime you mis-hit the irons will remind you by stinging your hands and subtract your distance. If you hit them good you'll be rewarded with that buttery smooth feel.

Shindig, awesome. What I wannna hear! Excpet not for the matching gap.

Think possibly try out a vokey instead?

Fusion...excellent point.
Yes, I am now at apoint in my life where I have the discipline and mentality to actually improve. Years ago when I started I was always looking for shortcuts and was just playing, which is cool too. Took around 6 years off, maybe playing once or twice a season, as I had just started to not have fun. One point I was shooting low 90's, then something happened and I just started playing bad abd quit.
Now, back at it, got out and got a feel for it again, started hitting around 120, couldn't work out my kinks, took a lesson (nothing major bad, just several bad habits I never had right) and am now (with two round in) feeling comfy and like I actually know what to do, breaking 100 with no effort. I plan to continue to dial out the bad flaws (a few keep popping up) over the next few weeks, take another lesson and focus on really getting my game to where I want it. I want to consistently break 90 by the end of this season (which I truly believe is feasible for me) and focus on meeting that 80 point next year.

So, 8-pw, or 7-pw ya think?

Go 8-P to start. I don't think there's a discount for buying 4 clubs instead of 3, and if you like them, you can go back and get the 7.

I ended up ordering 7-p. $100 a club fitted, grip choice, and sensicore shafts. He tried to talk me outta the sensicore, but we both agreed with my tendonititis, carpral tunnel, and arthritis they would like be best.

    • Still working on getting to lead side. Tonight I also tried some skill work with clubface awareness.  Hit foam balls.
    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
