Club fitting/experts in seattle area

I'm thinking about upgrading my 10 year old Taylor Made tour irons, and I want to be able to go to a shop and not be forced into a sale. I want to take my time making decisions, swing lots of clubs, and feel like I'm working with someone who cares about me.

Can you guys recommend shops or salespeople or club fitters in the seattle area?

I dont know if there is a particular place better than the other around our area. any PGA professional should be experience enough to fit you properly for clubs. In Tacoma at Tacoma Firs Golf Range there are quite a few good pro's that could fit you. Todd Erwin is the head pro there and he is one of the top teaching pro's in Washington state. anyways...get fitted by a pro, and dont just go out there and buy what he says you should get. play with different lengths and lie angles and find out what is best for you. use some sole impact tape for your irons to get a good idea on the correct lie angle for your swing, and play with different length of clubs. there are also fitting charts that may help you get a general idea of what your length/lie may be. http://www.pinggolf.com/pdfs/PING_Color_Code_Chart.pdf

http://www.clubfitter.org/ would probably be a good place to start for you. Being an Aussie I don't really know much about your associations however the site looks to be fairly reputable.

The other place to find the info you are looking for is to ask the better players in your area, that's how I found the guy I use. You could also just use the yellow pages and call around a few places.

Let me know how you end up when you get new clubs Kperkins... I got a new set last year, and I like them, but really didnt feel like i was getting much help or customer service seeings as i was about to spend between five and six hundred dollars... The place was pretty empty too, they just let me hit them into the net that was only 10 feet in front of me, and left me to it, i was really hoping for some pointers and advice, though Im not even sure if the two kids working the store were any good or not anyway, i think they were mainly just cashiers :(

      New Maxfli Tour and Tours Balls?

      There seems to be a lot of buzz around the new Maxfli Tour and TourS balls, especially with a handful of tour pros signing on to play them. My understanding is that the Tour is similar to the Titleist ProV1 and TourS is like the Titleist AVX. Has anyone played them? My main concern is that while I liked the feel and performance of the Maxfli balls of many years ago, I found the paint job on them was lousy. The finish looked a bit faded right out of the box, and after a few holes they had faded even more, and sometimes the paint was actually coming off. I'm hoping to find out if they are using a different factory or improved their paint process.  Opinions, please.

      Day 298: range session during lunch. Hit balls for about 20 minutes, focusing on start line and curve. Much better than last night. Then did a stack putting session, which was solid (for me).

      You advertise LIV as "golf but louder" You had DJ's pumping Jock Jams all over the place. You have Bros who are really into golf and TFG shot gunning 26 oz bud lights, while double fisting a 19 oz coors. What type of behavior do you expect?

      Did LIV pros cross ‘etiquette’ line at Masters? 3-time major winner has thought Did LIV Golf pros cross an “etiquette” line last month at the Masters? Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington has a thought. I do not mind cursing. I rather see some emotion on the course and honest reactions to bad shots or what not. I didn't catch it being a TON of cursing in this Masters. It was not noticeable.
