Well, I've got few questions about getting new wedges.

Currently I carry two wedges. 56 Cleveland 588 TSC, and a 60 Cleveland 588 RTG (I don't really like the rust on the RTG though... I think it chews up the balls quicker, but that could just be paranoia). I have a 20-25 yard gap between my PW and my 56 (PW is about 130-135 yards, 56 is 110 yards). Naturally, I've been thinking about getting a gap wedge, most likely a 52.

I love my Cleveland wedges, but I can't find the TSC anymore (my favorite out of the 588s), and I haven't hit the CG10s or CG12s.

So, I'm calling out for advice! How are the CG10s and the 12s? How do they compare to the 588s? I've been looking for a 52* CG10, but I can't find anything online, should I start looking for a 52 CG12? Do the CG10s wear out the grooves quickly because of their softer metal?

Any advice (even "go try another brand") would be appreciated. Would it be worth replacing all of my wedges at once?

Thanks!

if i were you, i would go get fitted for wedges. than you'll know exactly what specs to get and you can figure out what brand you want after that.

I recently made the switch from 588 rtg's to the tm z tp's after trying a bunch of different wedges out. They are great wedges imo. They felt a little light so I through some lead tape on them but other than that they feel great. The one thing I will say is that the grooves are really sharp so if you're worried about chewing up balls you might want to go a different route.

I just came back from a one day Dave Pelz short game school. I asked the instructors what they thought about the Solus wedges and they had good things to say, even though they are biased towards the Dave Pelz wedges. I have the Solus wedges and I think they are great. I have trouble hitting out of sand traps and I am able to get out easier with the Solus wedges. I am a 28 handicap and this is my third summer golfing and I am now starting to break 100 consistently.

my 54 from 100 out or less is the perfect club for you here. look at getting a 54 lofter.

I'm looking at the 52 more because of the 35 yard gap between my SW (56*) and my PW (48* according to a spec sheet I found). 52 would be smack in the middle.

What do people think about the CG10s? I managed to hit one this afternoon and it felt decent. Do they wear out quickly?

Without a doubt, the best wedges out there are the Cleveland CG12 RTG+ DSG Wedges. I got rid of my Titleist Vokey Spin milled in 56* and 60* and traded up for the 54* and 58* Clevelands.

Do not buy another wedge without at least trying these wedges.

How do these perform around the green? I've been reading a little and it seems like people are having problems getting their chips to check up on the greens. Any truth to this?

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
