The hole one doesn't work out because the premise is that you can't dig parts of a hole because a hole is a hole regardless of volume. When you give 1.3 as a number, you're rejecting the logic that holes are discreet whole numbers.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

This isn't really a brain teaser or joke but it was a qualifying question for a CAD position we had open at our company.

Find: 5 consecutive even integers where the sum of the first and last number equals the sum of 3 middle numbers.

What's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts?

Beer nuts are $3.49, deer nuts are under a buck.

Which weighs more?

I would assume water because water expands as it freezes. If you freeze a gallon of water it will be more than a gallon of ice.

*Necro's*

e^x and x^2 decide to go to a party.
At the party x^2 is jumping and dancing around the floor having great craic.
e^x, however, is standing in the corner with a glum look on his face.
After a time x^2 comes over and asks e^x what the matter is, and for him to come onto the dancefloor and enjoy himself.
e^x replies "I'm not really having any fun. I tried integrating, but it just didn't change anything."

Depends on th temperature.

Water at 200deg would weigh less than ice. water can be water at 700 deg if the pressure is high enough. And we have to consider the triple point.

You have a 3 gallon jug and a 5 gallon jug. You have to fill one of them with EXACTLY 4 gallons of water. How do you do it? I think there is more than one solution. Bonus points if you can name the movie this is from.

Fill the 5 gallon jug and pour it into the 3. Then empty the 3. Pour the remaing water from the 5 into the 3. Fill the 5 again and use that to fill the 3. This will leave you with exactly 4 gallons in the five gallon jug.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Fill the 5 gallon, empty as much as you can into the 3. There will be 2 left in the 5. Empty the 3. Pour the 2 from the 5 into the 3. Fill the 5 again. Pour from the 5 into the 3 until it tops off. There will be 4 left in the 5. That was from die hard 16 1/2, or whatever # they were on!
