Not sure if there are any degenerate gamblers (like me) on this site, but I thought I would start a thread to discuss betting opportunities for the Open Championship.

Right now, I am waiting for individual match-ups to go up, but there are odds to win out right now...here are my thoughts right now...

Geoff Ogilvy at 30-1 looks like a decent price.

I will FADEEE Sergio Garcia in individual match-ups....he will choke under the pressure of being the favorite...

Will be adding my actual plays as the week goes on....any thoughts from others appreciated

Only thing good about my golfing ability right now is my betting,

I placed McDowell & Jimnez e/way to finish top 5 at Loch Lomond so quite happy with my winnings

I'm going to wait until Thursday before selecting but might have a go with

Anthony Kim
Anders Romero
and 2 'favourites'

I went out and watced Sergio and Greg Norman play today and I would be confident in Norman making the cut against some pretty good odds the way he was hitting it today. Daly spent about 3 hours working on his putting today and Dave Horsey who is playing very well on the second level European tour at the moment would be a good pick as a long outsider. McDowell is also hitting it purely if he keeps on the same plane he had at Loch Lomond last week.

Thanks Wilbur, that is great info.

BTW -- I have taken my Harrington bet off the board due to his status with the wrist injury.....I lose a little juice doing so, but better than backing a injured soldier.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
