I read that Beemer said he was fine. The worst part about him and Lyle bailing is the altenates who show up and don't get in. That sucks for them.

I'm sure that wasn't the first round he's played this week, so he should have known during his practice rounds that he wasn't going to do well. He should have pulled out before the start of Friday's round and let a willing alternate play. Very selfish of him imo.

If Tiger can play 91 holes on one leg, he should have at least finished the round with a couple tingly fingers. Pathetic excuse. R&A; should revoke his exemption.

I think it's a lack of respect for the Open. For an injury, that's understandable. But for weather? And it's not like they were the only two out there, all these other players were sticking it out in the SAME conditions. He at least should've finished the round.

That's just weak.

Work sucked this morning. From my morning drive till 2:00 pm everything went wrong and I just wanted to bail. I've got enough personal time that I could have easily taken off and gone golfing without anyone giving me a hard time. The only problem with that is people were counting on me to get certain things done before monday and they didn't deserve to have their schedules screwed up just because I had a rotten first half of my day. I take pride in the job that I do, you would think a professional golfer would do the same.

      Sorry, I will disagree. You got a penalty because you hit it somewhere and didn't want to play it from there. Bunkers are not the general area. If you had hit it into temporary water in the general area, you'd be entitled to relief. You hit it into a hazard, a bunker. Why should you get free relief when you hit it into a bunker? If someone else hit it into a different part of the bunker, without water, they'd not get a drop for free out of the bunker. Heck, it'd cost them two strokes if they didn't have an ACC and wanted to drop it out of the bunker.

      I love golf, but we have some really dumb rules. Like this one, you get a penalty stroke because it rained.

      No. If there was a place no closer to the hole that afforded some relief, you could have dropped there. If you were truly as far away from the hole as you could, in the "back" of the bunker, then… your options were basically to play it as it lies (lied? lay?) or take the penalty stroke and drop behind the bunker (keeping the point where the ball was between your drop and the hole).
