I wish Canadian golf teams were set up like you guys. We have no spots, and don't compete for spots, or have practise teams. We have a 4 person team, I'd be ranked #1 or #2

ive never played on my highschool team, i might play next year considering i have gotten in to golf lately, but ill be a juinior then. Im getting my brother to try out for middle school team this year (6th grader) because i started the summer before my 6th grade year and thought about it but was to shy and i regret every second of not trying out then, so im makin sure he don't make that mistake to.

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

we don't have a middle school team, but we do have a highschool team, and I'll be trying out for that when I actually get to highschool

My goal is to win every time I play by 5 shots, or more. It could be unrealistic, but if I work as hard as I can, I could do it.

That's nuts. Your not even in High School and already a 7.4 handicap. Can you say Tiger Woods?!

very good goal, i set goals like that for my bowling(on highschool team) i would set them for golf but im not good enough yet, but i do set goals like: no double bogeys and try to shoot atleast 3 pars per 9 holes.

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

Haha, its an accomplishment for sure, but not nuts. Its achievable. I'm sure many have done it

But props to him for sure.

I had my first match today. It went okay my team lost 209 to 221. I was shocked how I played today. I thought I was going to shot 50 something, because I have a chest cold, and a sore neck. I shot 46 felt decent out there. I was chipping terrible though which is odd because it's usually the best part of my game.

Yea real good idea.

We have our first practice tomorrow, just going to the range. But then 9 everyday for the next couple months, so pumped. I played volleyball 9th and 10th grade but I decided to play golf this year. Like Dent, my team is a joke and does not hold tryouts, everyone makes it.. But I will most likely make the playing team.

How are peoples high schools golf matches being played?

My school does a combo of stroke play and match play.

Every three holes is worth a point and the overall round is worth one point.

I like it because if i have a bad first 3 holes i can still recover and get the next two points through the next six holes.

Tournament we played in was just all stroke, but drop the worst score on the team and add up the 3 best.

In my conference, Ma Catholic Conference, we play stroke play. There are 8 golfers for each team and the players play nine holes. The teams add up the scores and take the totals and the lower team wins. Other conferences play point match play, like the Greater Boston League who we play regularly. Again teams of 8, but this time each player has a rank of 1-8. Each player on each team with the same rank play each other in match play. Players get 1 point for a hole win, 1/2 for a tie, and 0 for a loss. The team with the most total points in the end wins.

There are other variations but there are two examples.

I like the idea of just playing 7 people and taking the best 6 scores then the team with the lower score wins. It seems a lot more simple then the way my league does it. Tournaments in my league are like that however.

Head to head with your oppenent can be fun sometimes though.

Head to Head is, IMO, the funnnest way to play competitvely. You see exactly how you're doing, and can step it up right there, and it gets really intense if the match is close.

Oh, and having this thread as a Sticky would be really nice.

    • Day 259: did mirror work while watching TV. Trying some wrist feels while trying not to lose the lower body stuff.
    • Day 3 (5 Apr 25) - long day with setup and rehearsal for band’s church service gig tomorrow.  Got home to hit a very chippy wedges (from about 10ft to out to 40yds or so).  Focus was simple - feel the bounce and quiet hands.
    • Day 187 - 2025-04-05 Got my time in today. Hoping to get a little more time in tomorrow, though. May get there early.
    • Day 14: 4/5/25 Putting through 50 mm gates.
    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?
