Only on off centre hits with a squared up clubface. If you hit the ball with an open or closed face it will still slice or hook. just like any other driver. I would go with the normal SQ sumo 5000

Yeah, I think I might go for the 5000 as they seem to be cheaper.

If you want a square one, just go for the 5300. It's last years model, but IMO, I like it better. I tried my friend's 5900 and I like my 5300 better.

I picked up the Sumo 2 a couple of weeks ago. I have hit and own many drivers and have never been a fan of nike products. I have to say I am really happy with this driver! Its very straigt and easy to hit.

The 4950 is the predecessor of the 5000. The 5300 is the predecessor of the 5900. I believe that is the 4950.

Yes that is the 5000 predecessor, the 4950 (numbers relate to the moi). I have the 4950 and for that ebay price you cant go wrong.

i just bot a "new" 2007 sumo (moi 4950) with the aldila vs proto by you shaft for about $200. Had played both the callaway big bertha and taylor made drivers in the past and was never a nike fan. Took the new sumo to the driving range and .... wow, this thing goes. Ultimately, given most 460cc heads today with moi around 4800-5200, I believe it's all in the shaft and not really the head. Get fitted to the right shaft and you'll maximise your drives.

This is what I need!
2 big ?'s...

?...Which shafts (that are commonly found on these) are designed for lower flight, as per the V2 comment above?

Is the 5000 face more open compared to the square? or the same at address/looks?

I actually heard from someone that the UST Proforce V2 shaft had mid/high launch.

I'm getting a low penetrating ball flight with the stock Diamana stiff shaft. I also got the 5300 for only $160 brand spankin' new.

I bought the Sumo 3 wood. I can hit it 260 on the fly and in the fairway. . I'm now going to pick up a Sumo driver. I have an older sasquatch driver now and my misses are not consistant at all which is why since I bought my 3 wood I've left it in the trunk. I went to PGA Superstore and tried out the driver. I definately need a different shaft as the ball was really kind of balloning on me. But all my misses were consistantly 10 yards left and still flew a good distance.

ONly thing i've noticed is with that big square head I was seeming to lose about 5mph on my clubhead speed but the ball was still coming off pretty hot.

I think average club head spead for me for the Sumo was around 98mph and was still getting a relatively good 148ish ball speed. Some of this however may have been me not being loose.

Typically with my driver i have now i'm around 103-105mph.

I had tried a used 5300 with the pro v2 (I believe), hit the piss put of it, but the lft was 10.5 or I would bought it right then and there.
Same thing, all the models I've tried with the stock Diama (reg and stiff) just balloon up on me like crazy. With my old and new swing. I tend to try them every other time I'm at a golf shop.

    • I haven’t really filmed in a while. Starting to feel like my body is close to being at full strength again, but I am also 65! I played a few round and my distance is down as expected. Here are a 6 iron and driver swing. My grip is a bit weak in these so I’ve focused on that the last few days. I went over my Erie notes. I’m trying to swing down from the top and not out. I want my weight to start shifting forward at about P3. And I want to push my left hip back in the downswing, which I was not successful in these swings. Ball flight has been pushes or pull draws with the irons and fades with the driver. Looking at these swings I can see why. I just need to change the picture.
    • I flipped the video above but here it is again so you see the flipped version, too.
    • Things can go awry quickly on that hole.
    • I have played that course a lot. Mostly scrambles/outings. I enjoyed the read and could picture each hole and got nervous thinking about number 5. That hole is scary. 200 yard layup off the tee?
    • Even though you didn't score well, take solice in the fact you hit the longest drive of the year! 😏 I enjoy following your rounds and can imagine the scenario.   Thanks for sharing
