Okay for a bit of back round on what I play with... My irons and subsequently my pitching wedge are from the cleveland cg gold series. The PW has 45 degrees of loft. My favorite club to chip with right now is a 58 degree sand wedge, but I do however also have a 60 degree sm vokey. So as for adding a few new wedges... at first I was going to add just a few cleveland wedges, either the 588's or cg14's. But upon closer review I noticed that the cg gold set also offers a 50 degree GW and a 55 degree sand wedge. If I ordered both of those clubs that would give me a 45,50,55, and right now a 58 but potentially a 60, leaving them all equa distant apart. Is that what you guys think I should do?

Well i'm going for a 3 wedge set up with my clubs. 45, 50, 55, but since you already have 60. I'd get the cg14's.

For me, I like having the matching Gap but prefer a tradition sand wedge. Matching gap gives me full swing confidence but in the sand around the green I find the a cavity back sand wedge awkward.

i use 52, 56 60.

a gap, sand, lob, set up. You always want to have them set up equally distant apart so that the distances that you hit them are equal. so for you i would go with the equal distant apart wedge setup that you mentioned.

Yes Thats a good set up. I just bought 52 56 60 cg12 and love my new set up. What is the difference between the cg12s and the cg14s. does anyone know?

What are your distances of your wedges?

For example my wedges are the following:

47 degrees (pw) 130 yards

52 degrees 100 yards

56 degrees 90 yards

60 degrees 80 yards

knowing the distance of your wedges you now know where to fill in the yardage gaps, in my case I have a 30 yards gap between my pw and 52 degree wedge.

The other factor is bounce of your wedges. my wedges bounces vary from 5 - 12 degrees.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
