I bought a new, in plastic FT-5 this week on EBay. It was a "buy now" price and it was $70 less than the well known retailers.Of course, right after I paid for it I started reading about all the fakes out there.

Well, I got out to the range today and it appears I got lucky ... not only does the driver KILL the ball but I was hitting right next to a guy who was demoing an FT-5 and the sound was exactly the same. Phew!

This club was to replace my circa 1995 Great Big Bertha and I was easily hitting the ball 40-50 yards longer. Of course, my occassional slices may end up TWO fairways over instead of one, but I guess we'll see.

For future reference, the seller is tstyles284 and it seems you can buy with confidence from him.

I hope you didn't pay $70 off of the $429 (I think is what retailers had them at) that they were charging for them because they just dropped the FT Drivers like $150. The FT-5 is down to $299 most places.

Ha! I thought about the recent drop when I posted this.

Great deal then!

I've seriously been looking at the FT-5 as my new driver, but I think I would rather get an iron set first once I can scrounge up the money.

They're very good drivers with a "hot" face, the ball just flies off it.

I bought the I-Mix FT-5 since it was the only lefty one in stores that I could find. I got it with the Proforce shaft for $350 total which is an amazing deal.

I can never come to grasps to pay that much for any one club. Iron set, maybe...but ONE club, I'll NEVER pay $350 for.

How do you like this driver? I'm a bit skeptical about changing the weights in the head and changing shafts like the R7 and the I-Mix.

I played the FT-5 from a buddy a couple times and then got fit for it - it feels a lot better than my Burner imo and makes me swing easier at the ball cuz the club face seems way hotter than the Burner... The FT-5 is an excellent driver you cant make much wrong with it.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
