I'm looking for a good ball to hit now that I am hitting the ball straighter and not losing as many. Previously I would just hit balls that I either found in the bushes or were given a sleeve of for scramble tourneys. Never hit any ball consistently although I found I liked Tietlist and Nike balls.

I would say I'm a long hitter, I threw hammer and shotput in college so luckily I learned to use my hips and legs when I swing rather than arm speed.

I hit a drive around 300-330 on average (older Taylor Made r5), my 8 iron about 160 and my 5 iron about 200 yards. Most of my shots go left to right or start striaght and tail a bit to the right.
I hit wilson ci7 irons with stiff shaft.

I can stick a ball pretty good on the greens with just about any ball. So i'm looking for a modestly priced ball with more control to it than distance and one that will be good to putt with. I struggle at times with putting consistency.

Thanks

Wilson/Staff Zip Balls

"Higher Spin, Longer Distance, Unmatched Soft Feel! Wilson Staff Zip as in Zero; a zero compression core that is the softest in the game. Zip as in speed; faster off the tee for maximum distance. Zip as in spin; shot-stopping control into and around the green. It's the perfect option for players seeking soft feel, great distance and greenside control."

Normally are around 20$/dozen. I absolutely love these!

Since you said you like Titleist and Nike, Id go with the Titleist NXT Extreme/NXT Tour or Nike Mojo/Juice.

I currently am in love with the Bridgestone E5+ ball.

I get amazing distance and slightly higher flight with loads of spin. This ball checks and stops. It's nice and soft off the putter and wedges.

I've very pleased with it and the price is righteous.

If I were going to spend a tad more and had your game, then I'd opt for the NXT Tour and the Bridgestone B330 Tour balls.

I can't stress how well the E5+ has impressed me. I know it's a 2 piece and don't care wether it's a 1, 2, 15 piece. It simply performs well.

I still have six sleeves of B330 balls that will sit around a long time until I use up all my E5+ balls!!!!

I personally play the Titleist Pro V1 and i love it. I recently tried the Callaway Tour i ball and I could not tell the difference between the two. If you are looking for better feel around the greens one of these 2 would be a great fit, the only problem is they are $45 a dozen. I have heard good things about the Bridgestone line of balls. If you are looking for a reasonably priced ball i would stick with the Titleist or Callaway lines. For Titleist the new DT Carry/Roll would be a good choice, Or the Callaway HX line might be what you are looking for.

What I play:
Titleist 905R 7.5* w/ Graphite Design YS-6+
Titleist 906F2 15* w/ Aldilla NVS 75s
Titleist 690mb (2-pw) w/ Dynamic Gold S300
Titleist Vokey spin milled 54* 60* wedges Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 Heavy Titleist ProV1x ball

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
