So I am looking into a couple wedges. Thinking about 52* and 58* but wasn't sure what bounce. I will be playing Bethpage hopefully more on a regular basis so something along those conditions.

Not sure what the course you mention is like but you should also take into account how you hit your wedges. If you take large divots then you will be better off with more bounce so that you don't dig too deep. If you like to nip the ball off the surface then less bounce will be good

the 52-58 wedge set up is great and extremely versatile if used the correct way. Since the 58* will be used as a sand and a lobber I would suggest getting at least 10* of bounce. I played the 58* Cleveland DSG for a while and it was flat-out money. You could do anything with that wedge. As for the 52* wedge, I would get one with at least 8* of bounce. If you're still scared about having too much bounce on your wedges then pick up a copy of Stan Utley's "The Art of the Short Game". It's a great book that will instill confidence in your game. Good luck and have fun!!!!

good questions, you can research the web for wedges and bounces and call the pro at the golf course and get their opinion and see what fits your overall game.

I play the following:

52/7
56/11
60/6

the consideration are for sand play and pitching off bare lies.

Titleist 910 D2 9.5 Driver
Titleist 910 F15 & 21 degree fairway wood
Titleist 910 hybrid 24 degree
Mizuno Mp33 5 - PW
52/1056/1160/5

Wow for your handicap, I thought you would sure to be playing 3-PW with those wedges. I can't use had gap, sand and lob. I currently have the old Ping PW and SW. Just curious how come the 52 has less bounce than the 56?

Titleist in 52* has 8* but the 58* only comes in 8* or 12*. I really don't like the look of the orange insert in the CG14's even though they are very easy to hit.

Bounce isn't all about course conditions either.

For instance: With my wedges i try to just barely get under them and sweep them. I'm a sweeper. I need a wedge with low bounce. However someone who tends to take big divots would benefit from a wedge with more bounce.

Think about your game first.

In my Extreme Sport Stand Bag

3W: F-60 15* Regular Fujikura E150 Fit-On
Hybrids: 4DX Ironwoods 20* 23* Regular UST SR3

Well I'm thinking I can adjust my swing accordingly. If you want spin don't you have to trap the ball? I'm a sweeper for now but would like to become a digger to get more spin.

This info I found on the web may help you make your choice easier...

High bounce (above 14°) for tall grass, deep rough, and fluffy sand
Standard bounce (10°-14°) for normal to soft conditions or those who leave shallow divots.
Low bounce (0-10°) for tight lies, fairway shots, and tight, compacted sand.

Everything you need to know has been posted already. I'd just add that having different bounce options in you bag would add some versatility.

Example: Last weekend on a short par 4 I hit a hybrid 4 leaving 92 yards to the pin. This is a perfect SW for me, but the lie was extremely tight. Instead of bouncing my 55/13* SW into the shot I pulled the 60.04 and "banged" it as hard as I could off the tight lie. It came out a little low, hit pin high and released about 10 yards on a hard green. Made the par, and bragged about a 92 yard LW. Point is, sometimes the lie is tight or dry, sometimes it fluffy or wet. A little variation in bounce in the bag doesn't hurt at all.
