I'm thinking about ordering myself some AP2's, 4-PW and getting 3 wedges to go with them.

The 3 wedges? 51º, 55º & 59º, all Vokeys (52, 56, 60 bent down a degree) with rifle precision shafts on all of them (rifle spinner on the 59º).

What do you guys think about this? To go along with the iron/wedges, i am planning on buying all of the new 909 stuff..prob. a 909 D2 8.5º, 13.5º 3 wood & a 17º hybrid. We'll see because i'd like to see what vokey's new wedges look like!

I think you are going to have a pretty big gap between your 17* hybrid and your 4-iron.
Other than that, it sounds good to me. Im personally a believer in having more than 1 wedge. Right now Ive got a 56* and a 60*. Im working on a 52* as well.

I would skip the pw and get all 4 vokeys, this is what I have in my bag and it works great for me.

907d2 11.5 loft stiff
906f 15 deg 3 wood
2 585 h hybrids 19/24
4 thru 9 755 irons
48/52/56/60 vokey wedges
scotty cameron studio select 1.5 and a back up studio select newport both in 34 360 weight ( 15 grams ) with the us open sunshine head cover and the taxi cab for the newport ! I love my clubs will keep them for many years.

if I had to do it over I would up date to ap2's and the 909 as long as I hit them well I love titleist clubs as you can tell

p.s all of my clubs have about 4 degrees of seperation

Yeah, Id say having 4 wedges is a bit overkill.

that's 15 clubs...

The extra putter is an option I don't carry it on the coarse. As far as over kill on the wedges how do you figure? they are all for different ranges, I notice if I don't carry a gap that I either have to kill a sand or back out of the 48 deg. pw .

Thats still 15 clubs. You said you have, Driver, 3 Wood, 2 Hybrids, 4-9 irons, and 4 wedges and a putter. Unless I have counted wrong that is definitely 15 clubs, not counting the extra putter.

4 wedges isnt over kill if you count the PW as a wedge, not a short iron.

(TitleistWI)You said you have a 56 and a 60, and looking into a 52. If you have a pitching wedge, then it's 4 wedges total. When he was describing his set, he had a 48 degree as a wedge, which is a PW.

So most a lot of people carry 4 wedges depending on what you consider a PW to be a part of.

This is an interesting thread.

I've been pondering what my next set of irons/wedges would be comprised of.

I didn't want to go with 4-GW in the AP1 for instance, and then add Vokeys to that.

I'd rather go 3-9 maybe and then go with 4 Vokeys perhaps. I just can't get myself around the idea of not having a 3 iron in the bag....seems funny, I know.

i've decided that when i go for my fitting (whenever that might be), i'm going to go with Driver/3 wood/hybrid/3-PW/53º/59º
