I know I am uptight. I just like a little professionalism, is all. The old axiom, "act like you've been there before." It just pains me to see American athletes on a global stage acting a fool while the bulk of the other nations are keeping their cool. This is not excluded to Phelps, either. This goes back to Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh dry humping in Athens and Brandy Chastaine taking off her shirt. Just in general, I hate it when "our nation's best athletes" uphold the "ugly American" stereotype. The Dream Team vs Angola...the skiers in Turin...this isn't an isolated thing.

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

When you refer to acting professional like a bulk of other nations keeping their cool... are you referring to the communistic ones where the athletes are trained to act like robots. As an american, we should be able to enjoy our civil liberties and be allowed to show emotion. If they do not have any emotion... then there probably isnt any love for what they are doing. Most of the athletes that are competing for communistic countries arent doing it for love... they are competing because 1) they are forced to, and 2) it is a business decision for their families to live comfortably. If you dont understand emotion, especially with the MM KW comment, then I question if you have ever played any sort of competitive sports.

    • Day 566, May 21, 2024 Six-iron swings in the back yard. Felt good. It's hot here, though.
    • Yep. It’s easy to get distracted during the day and hardly drink any water. Our bodies do not have a good systems to warn us early enough. Some tips I like. Drink 16+ ounces of water when you wake up. The body can lose 1-2 lbs of water weight overnight. You are already in the red. If you know you are going to work out, or even walking 9 holes of golf. Drink water before hand and during the exertion. I was curious once, I did a 40 ish minute workout and I lost about 5 lbs of water weight. That is 80 ounces of water I need to replenish. Now I try to drink 24-36 ounces beforehand.  Aim for half an ounce of fluid, per pound of bodyweight, per day. Note, this is baseline not taking into account exercise or strenuous activity. Also, if you eat non processed foods, you can get a good amount through diet. If you eat processed foods, you need to drink more during the day.
    • Anyone in the group play tennis and interested in playing some tennis this weekend while we are away on recreation?  @StuM I messaged you about hotel accommodations please let me know what you can do.
    • That's kind of what I thought.  The ap maybe fine, but Shotscope is so inexpensive and works really well. I'm surprised more golfers don't use it.
    • Me too. I tend to drink no less than 64 oz in the winter time. In the summer at least twice that.  I'm prone to cramping and cramping sucks. So, I drink plenty of water. BTW - I've become increasingly prone to cramping as I've aged. Aging sucks also.    Huh?  I'd love to know where you got this information. Did you ask your dog?  I'm not sure if I like or dislike the taste of water. It's water. It's one of the things that makes life on Earth possible.
