Interesting info here. On a related note, I was surprised to hear how some guys don't even change their grips as much as you might think. Fred Couples for example said he hated getting new grips, and would just have his caddy rub them down with sandpaper every once in a while to keep them fresh. Only changed them when absolutely necessary.

Go out to some tournaments and have a look in some bags, you'll see some really old stuff in a lot of them particularly fairway woods, putters and irons. You do see a lot of new looking wedges, but the replacements will often be for the exact same model with the same specs and grind etc but you'll also see some wedges that have been around for quite some time.

You'll find that a lot of the Ping guys will keep their irons for what seems to be a much longer period period than some others. The reason being that Ping's are made from 17-4 stainless and take a lot longer to wear out than softer carbon steel forgings. Changing clubs for the Pros a lot of the time isn't a matter of simple tinkering it's a matter of replacing worn equipment.

Certain more than others.

Tiger has been the only one where announcers noticed that he actually switched. I wouldn't be suprised if he replaced his irons less than 5 times his entire career.

Wedges, I think every Tour player goes through 3-6 a year.

Tiger changes his clubs about every 9 months. Depends on how much the guys pratice on tour and the type of club that they have. Has far has I know, there are some of them playing cast clubs (eg: tm R7 tp) and those don't need to be replaced

In my bag:

Titleist 905 Aldila VS Proto| TaylorMade r9 stiff shaft| Titleist 906F Aldila NV 75-S Fairway| Titleist ZM S300 (3-PW) |Titleist 54º SM TT Wedge Flex| Titleist 60º SM TT Wedge Flex| Scotty Cameron Newport 2

09 Goals- Handicap to 2 (I'm crazy I know)- Win 10 tournaments (dune)- Win...

Some years back, I remember reading that Vijay changes his irons (wedges?) every several months because the grooves are worn out. Like that would EVER happen to me.

    • Shot a 37 with two birdies. 2 highlights which came on the same hole.  Had a 297 yard drive which set me up for a nice approach on my  nemesis hole which I walked off with a birdie. Previous best for ages was a bogey on that hole.  2 more added to the birdie challenge.
    • I can just see Norman rushing in to LIV admin building with his silly shark hat gleaming to the Saudis, ‘ Gentleman! Have I got a great idea! Let’s have our OWN golf courses…like American football and NBA Does! It’ll really grow the game!’ He rushes out as the Saudis give him their encouragement. As the door closes and before the smell of Greg’s Brut cologne has even dissipated, they all laugh hysterically.

    • You've heard me say that one of my feels is that the ball will go 45° right… and it doesn't. At all. Just make sure you remember HOW crazy that feel is, because… it may feel that extreme for a long time.
