Hello everyone! Just found this site today thru the Titleist website so thought I would check it out. I live in Peoria, Arizona now after moving here from Chicago 15 years ago when I first took up golf. I work a full time job but still manage to play golf 2-3 times per week year round unless I play a tournament that week. I play on the Pepsi Tour occasionally and have learned a great deal from playing with different pro's.
When not playing, my hobby is building and fine tuning clubs as I have a full shop setup in my garage. I will try to post as much as possible in hopes that maybe some of my knowledge will be of help to others. Looking forward to discussing the love and passion that I have for this great game.

Welcome to TST Mike.

I not only enjoy writing for the site but I like the give-and-take of ideas here.

What is the Pepsi Tour? Is it like the Nationwide Tour?

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for the welcome and to answer your question on the Pepsi Tour. It is similar to the Hooter's tour but is on the west coast. I do understand that the Pepsi Tour is trying to get going in Florida now to compete with the Hooters Tour. It is a great learning experience and played in a tournament 6 weeks ago and one of the pros that won it played in the British Open and was looking to pick up some extra cash so he blew all of us away at that tournament.
Just like the Nationwide sometimes has players from the PGA in there event, it happens to us also. Makes it tough to get to that next level but that's the way it goes. I am working on going to the next level in June or July to force myself to get better. I had serious issues with back and hip that kept me from performing at my regular level, hence my handicap shooting up from +0.3 to as high as 11.6 as recent as Thanksgiving. It's coming down quickly with my equipment change to Titleist at Thanksgiving but I still need a little more time and rehab to get back to scratch. I am 47 and time is running out but my new goal is to make it thru Q-school in 2 years to qualify for the Champions Tour. Any other questions then please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them. Take care.

There are many tours out there. There's a group of women who play on the Tri County League. Ladies have to be an 11 handicap to be able to play with them. That's my next goal.

Right now my official handicap is 16.4 but I had a few scores that didn't count and they were in the 80's so I'm thinking I'm closer to a 15.

Lately I have just been concentrating on hitting the ball clean and not thinking too much about score. I've been playing from the men's tees for the winter to increase my distance (it really works), but i the spring it's back to the reds to lower that handicap!

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

Do you have man boobies like the most famous lefty? You're close to Canada, so that might make you like that other hoser lefty... or maybe you can bomb the ball 350 with regularity, like a new lefty we know...?

Or maybe you're just you, which is good enough. We have no bias against lefties here. Just the phonies named Phil...

Hi Scott,
Welcome to TST! I am also a lefty and get ribbed about it. Don't fret! Erik is just a bit "anti-lefty" but that's okay. Everyone has their issues

Some of the best golfers on tour today are lefty. Phil Mickelson is my personal golf hero because of his smooth swing. I can't wait to see Bubba Watson climb the ranks and there is always Mike Weir and Steve Flesch who are terrific no matter what side they play.

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

    • Day 171: mirror work while watching tv. Working on cleaning up the backswing stuff.
    • Day 25: 1/4/2025 Mirror day. I did some good mirror work with a 7 iron. Once again focus here is on pushing the carpet away with my lead leg. Sort of like I'm sitting in a office chair and want to scoot across the room.  Later, I used the putting mirror on the putting mat. Rolling 8 footers down a straight line on the mat.
    • Day 96 - 2025-01-04 Fighting it. Keeping my streak alive, but not by a lot. Got all of seven minutes or so in today. Maybe eight. 😛 Still backswing. Trip next week might be interesting, ha ha. Not gonna worry about it.
    • What does this have to do with the topic?
    • The Top flite Gamer, designed by Callaway, was once an excellent budget ball and won many gold awards from Golf Digest. The original Gamer was a 3 piece ball with a urethane cover. The 2024 version is a 2 piece ball with a cheaper ionomer cover. The top ball below clearly shows the cheaper 2024 2 piece Gamer and the bottom is the 2021 3 piece Gamer.   DSG acquired the brand from Callaway and has systematically destroyed it.
