Is ping coming out with new stuff?

I was at the pro shop yesterday and the guy said that ping has new irons and a new driver coming out real soon. He said the irons were going to have some special metal on the face to make the ball go 5-10 yards farther than normal. And did'nt give me any news on the driver. I think he said the irons were s57 and the driver was a new rapture but not sure? Has anyone heard anything about these.

They are coming out with a new driver, fairway wood, hybrid, and 2 new sets of irons. The woods/hybrids and one set of irons are the Rapture V2's, and the other set, like Dent said, are the S57's. And no they are not released yet, if they were don't you think you would have heard of them .

I'm am not sure of when the clubs release, I have heard any time from October to December.

And unless your guy in the shop is a PING rep high up on the scale then there is no way that he knew when these we releasing, because my pro shop guy is a rep for PING and he didn't know about the new stuff until I asked him about it, and later showed him the pictures. Heck even my swing coach, who is a PING staffer, didn't even know about this stuff.

Really? I personally like the new look.

I don't see how you find it wild looking, it just says S57 with Black and Orange paintfill, to each his own I guess

The new lines for 2009 are the S57 irons (players irons) and the Rapture V2 (full line of woods, hybrids, and irons)

The S57s are based on the Tour-W wedges, which IMO are gorgeous. They also play extremely well. And PING doesn't do "gimicky". PING = form follows function.

I agree, I dont see how those look "gimmicky". Different strokes for different folks i guess.

there's been a few articles where ping tour staffers have started playing the s57's .. as well as the rapture ..

that sucks, i just got a G10 .. although i do like the G10 :)

That's why you gotta buy an older driver like me, so you don't care about the new one so much.

Golfwrx has loads of pics of this new ping gear. the Ping rapture V2 driver looks crazy good. I thought I wanted a 909, but now I'm not so sure...

the S57's are out in Ireland - I picked one up in a shop last week. VERY similar to the S58's, ever so slightly thinner top line and less offset which makes them look more blade like. I'm glad I didn't wait for them, the S58's look easier to hit but are easy to shape - a true players club.

I game the i10's right now. They are a great set of clubs, but if you have a high ball flight then DO NOT get the AWT shafts as they will make it higher, get the ZZ-65 shafts.

Just got a conformation from my coach, and he said that the new stuff should be out in the latter half of September. But I am going to get to hit them in early September with my coach, I will give a review once I hit them.
