I picked up Titleist Pro V1 X-Outs today for under 30 bucks. The Titlest webpage says the X Out ranking is all due to cosmetic problems, not any performance issues (I'll take their word, judgin by one doesn't have any logo on it, just a blank ball with "X OUT"). It's an amazing deal, i don't knwo why people would get so embarassed if their balls say x out, or people think theyre being cheap.

and, yes, I know the are not on the USGA conforming ball list, so I will not use them in the 1, maybe 2 tournaments I play per year.

Actually, the X-Out Pro V1 ball are conforming. Just like the Pro V1 Practice balls...

Nothing wrong with X-outs. Unless you have to impress ALL the time. I hope people don't look down on others for playing them.

You can go to lostgolfballs and get non x-outs for the same price in mint condition.

YEah, but the shipping to TX is 8-9 dollars. It ends up costing the same as new. I looked at that site and almost bought until i looked at the shipping.

and Smallville, the things ive read makes it seem like some people do get looked down on for it. Which doesn't make any sense to me, buying x outs is smarter,IMO, youre buying the same ball with a minor cosmetic imperfection at half the price.

I have played the Pro V1 Xouts from Dick's all season and found them to be great. If you use the Dick's coupons that come out now and then, I have picked them up for as low as $20 a dozen. Can't beat that.

I would prolly use lostgolfballs also, but right before I was gonna buy some from there i found out that a friend sells them in mint condition for $12 a dozen and $3 a dozen for just a little scuff on them, its a great great deal

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

So the only problem with X-Outs are cosmetics? Because I have seen a lot when I'm in USA and I have the fear of buying them because I didn't know why they are called X-Outs, but now I'm going to buy them, because loosing a normal ProV1x huts me a lot LOL.

Regards!

I've used X-Outs since I started playing. That's 30 years. Not exclusively, though probably close to half the time. Sometimes all that could be wrong with it is the name is smudged, or otherwise not perfectly printed. I am reasonably sure a reputable company that sells X-Outs (i.e., Titleist, Top Flite, etc.) would not simply X-Out a crap ball (out of round, or anything that would make it play bad) because I think their plan is to have people try their X-Outs when they are younger and have less money to spend and when they get older and have more cash to spend, they will buy their non-X-Out balls. Even now, I won't hesitate to buy X-Outs if there's nothing I like on sale.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
