I just started playing my new Nickent irons and they came with 5-PW acording to their website my pitching wedge is a 45*. I am not one that has to have 4 different wedges. I also dont want to spend a fortune on a wedge. Anyway what wedge should I get. Perhaps I do need 2 more wedges since if I need to go in 4* degree increments. Thanks for the advice.

I had the same dilemma - my taylor made irons are 45 PW too - I started a couple threads and got some great replies and info. Here they are -

In the end I got a 50 degree Vokey - LOVE IT. Perfect Gap filler...

Go with two more wedges. A 56 degree sand wedge, then get one to fill in the gap between that and your pitching wedge, probably a 50 degree. If you only do the 56 sand wedge you will end up with a 20 difference between your pitching wedge and the sand. If you leave yourself with that 20 yard gap you will find yourself in no man's land and swing too easy with your pw and hit behind the ball, or swing like a maniac with your sand wedge and blade it resulting in a low screamer that will go 200 yards.

If you can only afford 1 wedge, Id go with a 56*. Its the best compromise between a 52* and a 60*.
If you can afford 2 wedges, Id go with a 52* and a 60*.
Check on Ebay, you can usually get wedges on there for less than $50 each and a lot of times, other than some light bag chatter marks, you'd swear the clubs had never been hit.

If you're looking for 3 wedges I would go 50, 55, 60. If you're looking for 2 wedges, I would go 52, 58 or 54, 60 depending on how well you can play your smoothed 3/4 or 1/2 pitching wedge.

As an alternative, borrow some wedges and see which ones work for you. Maybe your pro has some demos. Or, purchase some used ones from a golf store. I am a high handicapper and carry P, G, S, L and I'm considering an XL. A lot depends on your comfort and the nature of the courses you play.

If your looking for a good deal for some wedges, I have some you maybe interested in.

54 and 58 Titleist Raw Vokey's

52 Titleist Oil Can

50 Cleveland

I could package any two of these for $100 bucks.

To answer you question I would jump the middle and go with the 54 and 58, that way you don't have a huge void between your pw and your next wedge. Good luck.

Bridgestone J33 R Hybrid 21* NV Shaft

Scotty Cameron Newport Two TeI3

I would go with a 52 and 58 wedge. Cleveland and vokey wedges are very good. I personally play the Nike SV tour wedge, they are a little cheaper too. Also have a look at the ping tour wedge, they sit very nicely.

I have a Nickent set of irons as well with the 45deg PW. I had 2 Vokeys (54.14 and 60.04) but have just added a 50.08 to the collection. If I had to start over again I'd go with a 50.08 and a 56.10 but then again I have room in my bag for 3 Vokeys as I don't carry a fairway wood.

The spacing between my PW and my 54.14 was causing me problems as I have lots of shots in between those two clubs on the courses I play.

Adams has that three wedge set that is a good deal. I mena they arn't the best wedges by anymeans but they will get the job done. 52,56, and 60. Problem is what would the gap be with a 7* difference. Just a thought though. You get three for about 100 bucks which is nice.
