The G5 I'm sure you could find for 150 somewhere. ebay? something. I know preowned for sure you could find it under 150. I think it's 200 new though.

The G5 has awesome forgiveness, (so does the g10 but) overall, for some reason, I liked it better than my G10. I can't really put my finger on it. Just try it out man, you'll love it I'm sure. I like my G10, but I liked my G5 a lot more.

I would like to second that on the

Ping G5 . The G5 is very forgiving. It sounds awesome and feels beautiful when you hit it on the sweet spot. It promotes a fluid/smooth swing. I looks cool. I have two G5s. My gamer is the 9º with Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 65 Stiff. I also have (and use occasionally) a 7.5º with Aldila NV 65 Stiff, which I use primarily on super windy days into the wind. I bought one new and one on ebay for $125 shipped. I bought it in the winter, though.

There are so many really....really great new drivers out there that are simply one or two model years back for under $200.

I was at a local golf shop the other day and noted the Titleist drivers for a way low price.

Others you can get for $150:
TaylorMade R5 and occasionally the R7
Cleveland Hibore XL
Callaway X460

You can also find the TM 580XD for about $100

Prob be safer to go with the Taylor Made. but then again everyone's swing is different. try them out before you buy if you can.

Otherwise try and get a Callaway X460 9* - Stiff Shaft. Dopest driver ever.

Yep.

I just bought a TaylorMade R540xd on Ebay for $24.50!. It really made a difference. I guess that I like a slightly smaller head size. This one is a 425cc. With my swing speed, I seem to be able to control it better. I also have a Adams RPM 460cc. Even though it is a "draw" weight, I still seem to fade it to the right. The smaller driver goes much straighter. Just my .02

Not on that list but I'd go with a new or used r580xd from eBay. Tested it against all the other new drivers and it was as far if not further than most of the others. Great driver, great price.

I'd recommend going to SMT web site and reading about their heads. IMO they are much better than any OEM.

In the end its the shaft the really matters.

You read my mind man! The Burner Draw is down to $150 and that means the regular Burner is soon to follow. The Burner doesn't sound good to me at all but there is no doubting its forgiveness. I hurt my wrist and developed a pretty bad slice and that was one of the few drivers that could straighten it out til i got right. You have to also consider your natural ball flight. If you need some help with a slice or a fade then a driver like the Burner or Cobra with it's closed face would help but if you struggle with a hooks then you need a more neutral or open faced driver such as a tour model. There are plenty of solid sticks out there in the 149 to 200 range so you've got to get out and try them to truly know what you like best.

I would watch buying from rock bottom golf because they do not guarentee authenticity

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
