I am heading out to the range today and I am planning on working on shortening my backswing with my driver. Right now I go way past parallel on my backswing when hitting my driver. I was watching Sergio this weekend and it is amazing how far he hits thew ball with such a short backswing. I am not looking to try and hit it that far, that is unrealistic, but I am trying to get more contorl of the ball off the tee. I think a shorter backswing will help.

So I was wondering if there are any drills or tips to help accomplsh this? I am not good enough to really "feel" where the club is, I never thought I went so far past parallel but my playing partners have been pointing it out a ot latelty...

You might be using your arms too much somewhere in the takeaway if you're getting way past parallel at the top.

Take a look at the two Shawn Clement videos. He talks about using your body and shoulders to throw the club up to the top. You must use a very light grip and almost no tension in your arms for this to work and for you to feel the club weight move. If executed correctly, the inertia of your club should pull your arms up to the top from half way back.
