Not to sound like a golf snob but just how high a handicapper are we talking about? I play every weekend with a 13 handicap and enjoy every round. That being said I would rather not play with a really high handicapper, someone who tops shots, hits huge slices, etc. I will say this, I will play with anyone who can break 95 regularly. It is just monotonous for me to play too much with people who can't break 100. They hit it three or four time before I hit twice, I get bored. That may not be PC on the forum but it just my opinion.

This is what I think is going through the head of every experienced player I'm paired with, and why I'm hesitant to head to the course without a foursome intact ahead of time.

However, golf is an expensive hobby. I would not want to ruin anyone's day, or waste their time and money if my poor play really affects them. That's why I head to the course after 1 or 2pm and rarely spend more than 2 min looking for my ball before I just move on.

Do remember one thing though. Even though it can be frustrating for a low handicapper to play with higher handicapper you have as much of a right to be there as I do. There are a lot more people like yourself than there are of me. If golf courses only allowed good players there wouldn't be near as many golf course to play. Basically, so what if you aren't great don't worry about the skill level of those you play with, play your game, keep up, and enjoy yourself.

Most everyone I play with on a regular basis are "high" handicappers....guys that breaking 100 is great for. I don't mind it one bit. I did try to play solo one time, and a guy asked if he could join up with me. Nice guy, but he took like 5 minutes before each shot....then proceed to worm-burn it 50 yards, rinse and repeat. Normally it wouldnt bother me....just the whole "last shot at the Masters" pre-shot routine got to me. The only thing about my high HC friends that gets a tad annoying, is they like to get drunk on the course....I dont drink when I play, so they can get on my nerves quickly.

Like many others have said, I don't mind playing with high handicappers as long as they aren't slow. If they keep up and have good etiquette then I actually like playing with higher handicappers, since many of them ask for my advice, and I like to help people, especially when they do something they don't do very often.

Just the other week I was playing with some older ladies (70's and 80's) and I helped one of the ladies make a 10 foot putt for par. It was the 2nd par she had ever gotten in her life! I felt so good after that happened and it made my day.

Here's what I play:
