I learned what I would shoot in the first round of Q-School today

We played at a course that we were members at a year and a half ago, and wanted to see the course. Turns out they're hosting the first round of Q-school when that starts.

I thought the course was hard during the winter, when grass was dormant, and conditions were crappy. Now they're perfect, and so mcuh harder.
To show how hard it was, when we were members there, I was a 20 handicap and could shoot 90 easily there. Now I had to grind all day to get an 87, as an 8.

And, they had some major rennovations. Like new teeboxes, trees, and other things. Plus, the very first pot bunker I have seen in Texas!

Oh I know, just adding* the pressure adds ten strokes, but the course was set up extremely similar to what it would be come game day, said by the manager.It was just interesting to play with that circumstance.

Yes, a series of tournaments, I cant remember how many but I want to say 7,that you have to finish so high to get your card.

Very cool to play a course like that whether the conditions are "Q School" or not.. You were "close" and it's fun to have played the course they will play. I used to play La Purisma which may still host some of Q School and it was always cool to talk about as well. It's also a MONSTER.

Yes, although there are other ways to get on the tour besides Q School. For Q school, there are several rounds in multiple locations held around the US.

The most recent book I've read on Q school is "Tales from Q School: Inside Golf's Fifth Major" By John Feinstein. I'm not a big fan of the guys writing style, but it's got some good information and might be worth a read if you are really interested.

There was a friend of mine who was the #1 man on our high school golf team. He had the unique ability to play much better in tournaments than when we were just playing causally. This was something I admired. I have a feeling most competing for Q-school have this same unique ability.

I played a course in Florida when my family went to disney earlier this summer that holds Q-School everyother year i would have shot 85, but that wasnt from the Q-School Tees though.
