  1. 1. Who is more dominant?

    • Tiger
      4
    • Annika
      13

It is very tough to decide. Is Annika's competition not as good? Or is it just that she is that much better than everyone around her? If it is the latter (and I think it may be) then I might have to go with Annika. Although things are shaping up in the LPGA so maybe we will see some stiffer competition.

But then, you look at Tiger taking a long break and coming back and winning his first two events against some good players. I realize that your comparison question encompasses more than just this year, but it is hard to ignore such a strong start.

I am going to wuss out and call it a tie.

I voted for Tiger because of the level of competition. But the definition of the word "dominate" really doesn't leave room for comparing the levels of competition, only how well you can beat down that competition. So if I weren't displaying any bias, the vote would have to be for Annika.

But I voted for Tiger anyway.

Annika wins because she's the most man-like of the women she competes against. Its like a watered down Tiger playing against regular old women. Tiger is in my mind the most dominant of the two. But then again I'm biased and chauvinistic and whatnot.

I think Annika is the best player out there period.Ali was best cause he beat everyone they put in front of him, well so does she.It is not her fault if she is heads above the comp.she just wins like 1/2 the events she enters and that is unheard of.

The best golfer? That's easy, it's Annika. She has won more tournaments for a longer period of time than any golfer out there. Tiger's a great golfer, but until he has posted the same winning percentage, he's second to Ms. Sorenstam.

Their winning percentages are 27% and 25%, rounded. Do you deny that Tiger has had tougher competition?

Tiger's winning percentage would be darn near 100% competing against the LPGA girls, so "who is the best golfer" is easily Tiger. But that's not the question. The question was who is more dominant, and in her sport, Annika is.

Have to go with Annika when the defining criteria is dominance. And she's changed women's golf in much the same way Tiger has changed men's. There haven't been as many premier players on the LPGA, though. That's true. The next couple years are going to be interesting with the young women (Creamer, Wie, Pressel, et al.) "ready to challenge Annika's dominance." Of course we've also heard that about a succession of PGA Tour young guns (Sergio, Adam Scott, Baddely, Howell III, ... ), and none of them have really challenged Tiger, yet.

I suspect, however, that in 20 years (like today), we'll be talking more about Tiger than Annika. Whether that's fair or not, remains to be seen.

Have to go with Annika, not that she just wins, she shoots under par to win and I think thats a point to consider. And I like tiger. I also think she plays againt the course and not worry about the rest of the field just like tiger.

Annika Rules!

Okay so I believe (comparing apples to apples) in their respective tours Annika has it a bit easier than Tiger as well. Although the competition is gaining on her and one day she might be toppled from her throne, her footsteps are always following the leaders on Sunday.

Woods used to be able to dial it in on Sunday but since he got married his spirit seems a bit different than it once was (even though his stats this season are great). He also doesn't seem to be able to take the bad shots as well as he once did (and he's throwing alot more clubs too!). Annika's divorce actually made her stronger.

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

Have to go with Annika. If there was a measurement to indicate how far she rated above the "average" peer in each game aspect, I think she towers above them all, more than Tiger does. Statistically speaking, does anyone know if such figures exist?

I dunno about that! He was, what, four shots away from a possible grand slam last year, and most of that was putting? I dunno... I think Tiger's doing pretty well these days. I think marriage has had almost no effect.

going with Tiger; followed Tiger twice this year (Target @ Sherwood and Nissan @ Riviera); also followed annika at the USWO in Cherry Hills;
no comparison whatsoever in focus and concentration; Tiger can move his focus needle by microinches vs. Annika by inches. Tiger goes after the game; Annika lets her game come to her. At the end of his career, Tiger's numbers will make Annika's pale in comparison.

Wow, that's a strong statment, the last part there. We shall see. Annika is older, so she has that going for her. But then again she was 10 for 20 last year…

I think the players championship showed us tigers first off course problems having an affect on his game. He's still a great golfer and will stay one but he's in his 30's and after ten years on tour this is the first time we've seen him have personel problems that his name or money cannot fix. Hope his father get's better but the papers say he is bad shape.

His dad was in bad shape when he won The Masters and the British Open last year, too, or two other tournaments earlier this year. Tiger just had a bad week. Even still, with his C game, he made the cut and even had a small chance to win going into Sunday.

Look how Annika has flourished post-divorce. One could argue her personal life must have affected her play, too.
