Im fairly new here, but absolutely love the site. Why no SandTrap gear or sponsored memberships to donate to the cause?

Quite honestly - and Smallville sent me a PM about this - I don't think anyone would buy anything, making it pretty much a waste of time to set something up, right?

And if we had sponsored memberships, what would you get in return? I don't even know what we could possibly offer that would make it worthwhile. If you want to help us out, click some ads now and then. If you want to buy something from a CafePress store or something, tell me what. Maybe I can make something.

I made a post about this awhile ago as well. I beleive Iacas responded that even running the site is time consuming, nevermind opening a store for Sandtrap merchandise.

I think sponsoring the site is more a show of appreciation for everything that goes into it. I know I would buy a sandtrap visor. maybe do a yearly fee of $35 and include a Visor or something that says Sandtrap Charter Member or Sandtrap VIP.

I run and workout at the club - lot's of golfers. If there was a t-shirt with the SandTrap.com logo across the back or tastefully done on the left breast front, I'd wear it all the time... 2XL to start off.

How about an embrodiered patch with "The Sand Traps logo" (kinda like the logo in the upper left hand of the browser) that we (or our wives, or moms in Dent's case ) could sew onto our golf bags, or our favorite golf polo ... they would be cheap, tasteful, and lots of advertising ...

Just a though,

BTW: http://www.cafepress.com/thesandtrap

I think there's like one whole item in there right now.

Edit: I made a few more. No patches available, though. I think the golf shirt's nice but I wish they had it in more colors. If anyone gets anything, let me know. I'd love to see pictures of how it turns out. I got some stuff for my hockey team ( cafepress.com/tungsten_blades ) that turned out REALLY nice.

BTW:

Didn't even look.

Nice golf polo. What I was talking about was a T-shirt for workout. What you have in the cafepress is good. Cheers!

BTW:

I can assure you if you decide to do the sponsored membership with a visor as a freebie or hat as a freebie to donate $35 a year or so, I will be the 1st VIP or charter member. Just thought I would pass on a way to bring some love back to a site that for my short time here has been great. I know the time and cost it takes to run these things.

I am going to buy one of those shirts Iacas. What is 100% jersey cotton, is that like the newer Golf shirt kind of material or the older thick stuff?

Also how many colours does the shirt come in?

I just saw this thread and now have some ideas for things that Santa can bring me! I'll get a white shirt (unless, like Dent asked, they come in different colors - - - Grey preferred, white shows dirty too quick), a cap, maybe a mug. A bag tag would be cool as a suggestion. Or Golf Towel (except for me, it would have to be cool enough to trump my new Pebble Beach towel).

Iacas, I had forgotten about PMing you about this; shortly after I did I found a thread where you covered this, ans simply forgot about it. I'll definitely be buying something soon! Cool stuff.
My Equipment:

I used to belong to a ford explorer forum a few years back, and I paid 15.00 a year for an elite membership, i basically just got free file hosting, and it gave me my own lil page to share my pictures,a nd i could attach pictures into a thread without linking, just lil stuff like that,

that would be cool to offer something to an "elite" member for a fairly reasonable yearly price, that regular members dont get

I printed out the page at http://www.cafepress.com/thesandtrap , circled a few things on it (polo, cap, t-shirt) and told my wife if she's looking for ideas, maybe this will help! So we'll see what Santa brings!

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
