Titleist Vokey Spin Milled

I just purchased a Vokey spin milled wedge. I love it but I heard that it wears out quickly. What do you guys think about the longevity of these.

I have one and they do wear out quickly. Thats why I am looking to switch to another wedge

Ive had mine around 6 months now, and it is showing some wear, but I would still call it durable for wedge standards. No where near my lob wedge though, which Ive had for 2 years and can still rip a ball to shreds with a full swing.

The vokeys feel dull in my hands, though. Im looking into Nike VR wedges when they come out, mostly because I love the SV's, or some Clevelands, which also feel amazing.

Titleist is re-doing their entire Vokey line so look out for that soon.

This is my major (and only) gripe with these sticks. I have had a pair for 6 months, 54* and 60*. I only use them for few small work tournaments that I have payed in. I try to preserve the grooves by cleaning them thoroughly after each use and not letting detritus and rust set in.

the do loose their grip -- which isnt that bad a thing as I find I can get way too much action on the ball around the green from mid to full wedge out. My course has a number of sloping greens and the spin can see the ball landing at the back and coming back off the front....

Sure they loose some spin in 3-6 months depending on how much and how hard they are hit. Unless you get your balls for free, this isn't such a bad thing. But the overall durability of the club is quite good. I've had mine about a year and a half. Great wedge and very consistant in distance.

It's true they are harsher feeling than forged wedges, but some would call that more feedback. One man's "soft" is another man's "mushy". You'll probably like this stick, but if you don't somebody else will be glad to buy it from you.

Love the spin milled, after playing 45 holes i had two chip ins and of course i didn't use it every hole lol

I have played Vokey's (Spin Milled, the last 2 seasons) for the past 6 years and, yes, the razor sharp grooves do wear out after about 3 months of consistent play. However, i found that to my liking as i find that fresh Spin Milled wedges are too grippy.

(i've also heard of people, i think Erik does it too, who used a fine grain sand paper to immediately try to take-the-edge off brand new Spin Milled to try and down-grade the bite) On another not, my three vokey's (48, 56 and 60) needed replacing. I headed to my local pro shop and actually saw a wedge set of Mizuno Mp T raw haze (2007 models) for a great deal. The local pro, who has been using Mizuno wedges for a couple of seasons, said to me, if i dont prefer the mizuno wedges over the titleist, he will swap them over for me (minus the cost of the mizuno). I thought, why not, if it works out, i will have saved almost HALF the money. I used them while i was in japan for work (3 rounds) > the result > AMAZING!! They are a touch lighter than my Vokey's but after a round, i got used to it. I have found that with my wedge play match these clubs perfectly and that the 60 degree, has just as much rip/stop as the vokey. Also, i have found the feel in the Mizuno's amazing. has anyone else made the conversion from Vokey to Mizuno? After playing with Vokey's for so long > they have become a staple in my bag for almost 7 years! It would be great to hear if anyone else has made the switch (wedges only)..

Thanks, this really helped but I do get my golf balls for free and I don't mind them getting torn uo as long as my ball is spinning.

Just searching around, does this seem like a good deal for these wedges??
They go by 10-15% shipping charge on the item on top of that.

I made the switch about a month ago from Titleist 50*200 and 54*SM to Mizzy's MP-R 52.7* and 56.10* Black Ni and quite honestly I'm in love with them. Iacas already did a review of them so no need for me to sing praise, but his review was a major contributor to my purchase.

I haven't played the Vokey's as long as you but I really liked the bite they had, so when it was time for a new set of wedges, they were my first choice. I actually hit the mizzy's further on avg. even with a 2* loft difference, go figure. Anyways, once I adjusted for the new wedge's I swear there was more feeling and control with the Mizzy's. When I first got my Vokey's I didn't know how to spin or work the ball with wedges so it's an unfair comparison. As with all the new wedges on the market, these things BITE. All in all, I love the looks and color of the Mizzy's alot better than the Vokey's and they just feel "right". Once my 60* gets a lil more worn, that's gonna get replaced as well.

i'm looking forward to the new vokey wedges although i've decided not to buy any new equipment until 2010. ( that will prob. change but we'll see )

Does anybody know the type of shaft used in the "original" spin milled wedges? - recently I switched to ZBs with an PX shaft and would also like to "update" my gap and sand wedge with the PX shaft. Is is it a taper od parallel tip hosel?
